Non-paying bidders, security deposit proposal.
Nowadays, many people are increasingly making bids that then are not honored in the event of winning; the reasons can be many, such as keeping an item blocked while, with another account, selling a similar one, or damaging eBay's reputation in favor of other competitors. In any case, these are generally accounts with low feedback, maybe inactive for a while, to be used in these cases, or they could be stolen accounts. I suggest giving sellers the option to activate an ad hoc procedure for those with very low feedback or who haven't placed bids for a long time, already used in normal auctions: whoever is in these conditions and makes a bid will have to pay part of the amount in advance, which will be held by eBay; by the deadline they will have the usual time to pay the balance, if they do not then the seller will be able to cancel the order and collect the deposit. ·1 year agoLet’s say it’s a bit of science fiction... but if you want to avoid non-paying bidders, you can use Buy It Now exclusively with immediate payment.

OP1 year agoThe payment blocking procedure is already used to protect buyers, and the release happens at the latest a few days after delivery has taken place.
I mean the deposit as an option given to the seller for buyers who are in certain conditions, which must be determined and indicated at the start of the auction (or in the seller's profile), so it does not concern the highest-rated buyers.
Not using the auction itself would be a shame, especially for goods whose value is not well known, so you can start from a slightly lower base and see how it goes; maybe later the winning price can be used for subsequent instant sales.

I don’t think it’s right to “test” an auction to see what value an item can reach... if you don’t like it afterwards, what do you do, cancel the sale yourself?

OP1 year agoIf I’m not mistaken, immediate payment also requires fast shipping; not always can a non-professional seller do that.
