Items sold and not paid for in the presence of other interested users
It often happens that the seller has numerous users interested in the same item.
It happens that one of the many interested parties finally buys the item, leaving the others empty-handed. The object of desire is marked as "no longer available".
It happens that the buyer does not pay. (In fact, in the presence of, for example, 10 "interested" users for the item, the one who buys but does not pay takes away from the other 9 the availability of the item, which "disappears from the screens," causing obvious damage to the seller).
Ebay simply allows the same item to be put back up for sale, but does not consider that the seller has lost the item's visibility to the remaining potential buyers, with obvious damage.
When there are numerous users interested in the same item (explicitly indicated by Ebay), the buyer who buys but does not pay should somehow be sanctioned.
Ebay instead does not even allow reporting the buyer who does not pay and considers non-payment a formality, even in the presence of other potential buyers.
At the same time Ebay should maintain the same "pre-sale" visibility to all interested users until actual payment. In fact, the actual payment should close the transaction and not the simple sale.

·2 years agoIt's not fair, lately this happens to me often: they buy and then disappear, they waste your time and the sale, not to mention that they make you pack the goods carefully in a double box. At least give us the chance to put these people on a black list so as not to harm us sellers. But then what does eBay do to those who don't pay? I get the message that I canceled the transaction.... which is absolutely not true....... pissed off

I’ll make a few considerations.
Buyers are used to clicking the button to put a ton of things in the cart.
When ebay was born the shopping cart didn’t exist and it was implemented later and in any case the operation is different from other, more modern marketplaces.
Ebay sends alerts by email but do modern users read emails?
I think most access happens via app, so a platform this complex is made to work with taps on the screen....
If users knew that buying and not paying leads to blocks they would definitely be more careful.
Solutions?
Black list yes, but if the random non-paying bidders are many the problem isn’t solved.
Wouldn’t a buy now with immediate payment work for you?
Maybe by including the purchase offer?
It would be interesting to collect the data of non-paying bidders in the case of purchase offers and check whether they are usually much lower than traditional purchases, to understand whether the problem is undisciplined users or the platform that can’t make users understand how it works.

·3 years agoI know, you're right, but for the buyer who doesn't pay, when you cancel the sale for non-payment, they get 1 warning, and if they receive many they face account restrictions, but we users don't see them, only support can see them.

This way the item stays on sale until it is paid for, and in any case the user who doesn’t pay is penalized by eBay, even if the seller isn’t aware of it.
