Can I ship the same item but in a different color?

Hello everyone!
I had two identical items for sale at the same price; the only difference was the color of the two. A buyer purchased one item from me and the next day wrote to me (without saying hello or being polite, oh well) asking if I could send him the one in the other color
I wrote back to him, unfortunately, that if I sent him the item in the other color then eBay’s guarantee would not apply, because the item sent would be different from the one in the photo, even if it only differed in color ((and so if he had opened a dispute for any reason I would have definitely lost it))
then he replies saying that I’m making everything up, that there is no rule like that and that he had already done it before with other sellers
the question is: who is right?

I had already told him in the message that if he wanted, I could easily cancel it and then buy it again in the correct color, I forgot to mention that

·1 year agoAccording to the rules, if you have an item of color x in the photo, you have to ship that one.
But if you communicated with the buyer explaining the problem and he confirmed that he wants a different color, you can also accommodate him.
The important thing is that everything is reflected in the messages.
As an alternative solution, you can cancel the sale and open a new auction, changing the photo of the item to the color the buyer wants.
