Returning an item to a foreign seller
Hi everyone, I’d like to ask how eBay handles international returns with return shipping costs covered by the seller if the seller then doesn’t provide you with a way to return the item for free?
Would they give you a return label (even though it seems to me they said that only applies to Italy), or could they only issue a refund?
Thanks!

·3 months agoThe seller who decides to sell internationally expands their pool of potential buyers, but on the other hand must then bear, in the event of problems, higher costs as far as any return requests are concerned.
In this case we are talking about a return for non-conformity, so that the return shipment is at the seller’s expense.
Otherwise, if we are talking about a simple return, for eBay the buyer has to pay for returns (whether domestic or international).
Unless the seller’s return policy is different and offers free return shipping.
That said, as regards eBay’s policies STRICTLY, if a buyer requests a return for a non-conforming item and the seller does not cooperate and is not available to provide a return label to the buyer and/or does not contact them to make arrangements (perhaps by paying the return costs directly to the buyer), the dispute generally ends with the buyer receiving a full refund and inevitably also keeping the item.
When the eBay dispute ends, the seller has one last chance to submit an appeal; after that, as far as eBay is concerned, the matter is CLOSED.
When these situations happen, it is rather difficult to find a buyer who contacts you to ask how they should behave with the item left in their possession after having received a full refund.
Usually once the dispute is over, buyers disappear.
On eBay, if you get the procedures wrong, you PAY for it, and this applies to both sellers and buyers.
Best regards.

·3 months agoThe international seller, if they want, can send you a prepaid label with an international courier. If they don't want to do that, ask eBay to step in ...

Keep in mind also that if you get refunded, the item doesn't become your property without the seller's consent. If they don't want it back, you should dispose of it.

OP3 months agoHi, yes it’s clear that we need to ask eBay to step in, what isn’t clear to me is what they do.
If it’s a recent purchase they would probably just refund it, but if it were a purchase of a certain amount?
