Buyer scam
A buyer with a single old feedback has purchased multiple products for a total of over 500 euros, paying with PayPal. I'm worried about some kind of scam, what should I watch out for? What precautions should I take?

·3 years agoHello, I shipped a package with Ups courier, a well-packed package with delivery confirmed by ebay to the buyer! The buyer opened a dispute because he says the product inside was damaged! the money is on hold, and so on! A perfectly intact video game with super packaging and the word “fragile”
at first I thought: huh, maybe the courier handled the package a bit too roughly! He sent me some photos of the delivery and I was stunned because IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME THAT IT HAD ARRIVED IN THOSE CONDITIONS, UGH! At some point he asks me for a discount, with lots of not-so-nice words! At that moment I started to suspect something, because I didn’t like the vibe at all and on top of that…..I started getting really pissed off!
at some point the customer seemed to have disappeared! I can no longer contact him on his profile! I can contact all the other past customers and buyers, everyone except him! With whom I had chatted in the ebay chat 10 minutes earlier! I suspected he had blocked me because out of nowhere… I found a message in the chat that said “ thank you “ and after this message, sent by him to me, all my messages could no longer be sent!
now, I have everything! The photos and proof that the product arrived to him! Damaged? I don’t care! First I tried to understand if it was due to something or someone else external, but after his completely from a total idiot, stop right there! He has to pay for it
now there is a dispute underway and I absolutely have to win it, enough of these damn scammy scams!

·3 years agoLet us know how it goes, the chances of losing it are very high.
In doubtful cases, eBay almost always sides with the buyer. The seller can only have some hope if the buyer is a not-so-honest, inexperienced person and makes some procedural mistake.

·3 years agoYou were wrong to get "angry"; it would have been better to talk with the buyer to reach a compromise.
A small discount rather than losing the return shipping + full refund + item in deteriorated condition.
After that you should have reported him for improper behavior.
Now you run the serious risk that the dispute will go in the buyer's favor.
Best regards.

·3 years agoA piece of advice regarding the dispute: don't rely on automation and algorithms, get ahead of it and contact eBay support by phone pointing out the tone of the messages and the request for a discount (instead of a return) which for a game, which either works or doesn't work at all, doesn't make sense and this supports the buyer's bad faith.
To have any chance, the situation must be reviewed by a person and not by an algorithm.

·3 years agoIf we look at the expired auctions, there is a video game for 500 euros (I don't know if this is the item in question) and given the cost of the item I wouldn't go so far as to shout scammer.
Spending 500 euros on a vintage video game means we're talking about a collector anyway.
The seller says it's impossible that the item arrived with the packaging damaged, but who can say?
If the courier threw a 30 kg package on top of his parcel, it's likely that it crushed it...
If the buyer received the damaged packaging and contacted the seller to ask for a discount on the price, maybe that could also be reasonable; if it's a rare game that's hard to find, rather than giving up on the item.......
In my opinion the seller was wrong to act so impulsively.
Best regards.
