Purchase and import from the USA
Hello everyone, I have to buy an item from the USA for the first time, and since it’s not pocket change I’d like a couple of tips.

In the listing you pay for the item + shipping + duties. But are these duties the American ones?
Do I also have to pay VAT in Italy upon delivery?
By paying in euros and not USD, do I also pay the conversion? 3.9% if I’m not mistaken of the total.
In the end, I’d just like to understand how much it would really cost me altogether.

Regarding the link you posted:
The auction is $292
shipping $61.60
VAT is not collected by eBay because it exceeds $150, so you have to add it to the total, equal to 22%, to be paid to the courier when it is delivered or online before delivery.
Duties: it is shown on the auction as $6.01 (to be paid at the time of purchase)
So you have to pay on the TOTAL of 292 + 61.60 = $353.6
The dollar/euro exchange rate may vary by about 2 to 3%
Then VAT at 22% on 353.6 = $77.80
Then you have to give something to the courier who will take care of collecting the amount, which can be from 5 to 15 euros.

·2 years agoI’d add to what’s already been said that a duty will also be applied since the total (item+shipping) is over 150 euros.
Since it’s an electronic item, it’s 4/5% (the exact TARIC code will be applied by the seller or at customs).

·2 years agoOnly the duties are included in the amount.
In the listing it is clearly written and well highlighted: Any shipping/customs fees are added by eBay base on value and destination country
So these need to be added (to the total item+shipping+duties):
