new SD card purchase
Hi, I wanted to buy an SD card from eBay but I don't understand if the price is a bargain or not... how do I tell if the item is the right one? Am I protected if I don't receive the one in the photo? Do I have to pay customs and VAT?

路3 years agoGood evening fatemirko
The selling price is quite low, I鈥檇 say too low, it鈥檚 very likely that it鈥檚 a fake microSD that does not show the actual stated capacity but a much lower one.
This is the cost of the item from an Italian seller.
I understand that the purchase price is significantly higher but here you鈥檙e on the safe side.

路3 years agoSome international sellers create targeted listings for each individual country and therefore can know whether VAT and other customs charges will have to be paid. The others, those who make a single listing valid worldwide, cannot know the buyer鈥檚 nationality and therefore it is not up to them to know their customs regulations.聽
In any case, you know that every item you import from a non-EU country will be subject to VAT, duties and customs charges (the seller鈥檚 registered office is what counts, not where the goods are located). You also know that a purchase made from a private individual or a non-EU seller does not enjoy any kind of warranty (other than eBay鈥檚 conformity guarantee).

路3 years agoThis is one of those products I would never buy from China, but even paying a bit more I鈥檇 go with the other site for peace of mind. Fakes of these products are everywhere.
In the listing I read made in china, I may be wrong but Samsung microSDs for the Chinese market are made in Philippines, while the others are made in Korea, definitely not made in China.
Then the photos, I don鈥檛 know if it鈥檚 the quality of the listing photos, but for example the colors of the 1TB are wrong.
For me, the seller has too few feedback

路3 years agoYou dug into it better than me, in detail. I agree with you on everything.
Personally, I wouldn鈥檛 have bought it in the first place for the reasons I listed.
Have a nice evening

路3 years agoFrom the photo, if I saw it right, the board is in China, of course you pay customs and taxes. EBay gives you a guarantee for an item that doesn鈥檛 conform, but in the event of a return, rest assured that the shipping to send the board back the Chinese guy on the other side of the world won鈥檛 pay for it, and I see it as hard to get your way. You鈥檒l pay for it yourself and maybe spend more than you spent for the item.
Also, when you buy from sellers outside the EU, you don鈥檛 have the guarantee in case of malfunction.
In short, don鈥檛 go looking for trouble! Then do what you want, the choice is yours.
