Auction cancellation
Summary: The discussion is about the topic 'Auction Cancellation', but no specific content was provided in the posts. There appear to be multiple replies from various participants without additional details.
Hi everyone. I was about to win a product with less than 23 hours left before the auction ended, but it got cancelled.
The seller (600 positive feedback) wrote to me saying he cancelled it to rewrite "improve the auction," but after several hours there’s still nothing.
Almost certainly it’s a trick to avoid selling the product at the price he had in mind.
Taking into account, imho I would have won it since I had entered a nice and generous maximum limit (with less than 23 hours to go, the product only had my bid of €99 and I had set a limit of €250). This is really frustrating..
I wrote to the seller but he isn’t replying.
Can I use Ebay and report the issue?
Thanks everyone.

·1 year agoassuming that it is NOT said that in the end you would have won the item ( probably yes, but it always depends on the item and on who is watching it...... and probably does not equal certainty.... ) ,
in any case, according to the rules (as pointed out by the other users), there are no violations of eBay procedures..... obviously if the seller "abuses" the fact of closing auctions early, he may in the future run into some "fault" or "limitation" ;
you can always, if you want, report it to eBay support, but I doubt that, for this type of case, it would have any negative impact on the seller's account.....

I understand the frustration, but the seller did not violate the platform rules and for completeness I'll explain why.
Here you can read about bid cancellations
https://www.ebay.it/help/default/default/annullare-le-offerte-gestire-gli-offerenti?id=4140
The seller can cancel a bid and at the same time end the auction, or simply end the auction that has received bids under these conditions:
https://www.ebay.it/help/selling/listings/creating-managing-listings/ending-listing?id=4146
I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but in distance sales sometimes unforeseen issues can happen (including second thoughts).

·1 year agoThese auction cancellation conditions aren't true; when an auction is canceled and there are no bidders, eBay itself quickly adds a fake one to collect the fees.

·1 year agobut what are you saying... are you all right? they add a fake one...😂

·1 year agoIt seems strange, but eBay does it and doesn’t give back the stolen goods.

·1 year agoReport to Ebay what exactly??? was the item yours? I don't think it was the seller's. they are completely free to do what they want. if you're frustrated, deal with it another way

·1 year agoHello,
if ebay allowed the seller to end the auction, it’s because they were allowed to do so.
You’ve already reported your frustration here on the forum... but in practice it won’t do anything...
Kind regards.
