Cancel sale
Good morning, I’d like to cancel a sale I just made.
It’s my first sale, so I received a notification that the buyer’s money is on hold.
If I cancel the sale, what happens?
Will the buyer be refunded right away by eBay? Thanks

OP1 year agothank you, though here at the moment no dispute has been opened, the item has not been shipped.
And on the cancel sale page this thing isn’t written, it should be said right away.

·1 year agoEbay takes it, in a way, for granted that the rules are read...... if that isn't done, obviously the seller finds themselves unprepared to handle everything.....
so: before venturing onto any marketplace to sell, it's good practice to read the rules and understand them.....
for the rest I agree with what was said by those before me.... also because the rules are like that......

OP1 year agoThank you, I believe what you're saying, but the situation is this:
I can't complete the shipment with eBay shipping because the buyer's address isn't valid. I contacted the buyer but we couldn't get to the bottom of it.
Oh well.
I contacted eBay support (twice) and they keep telling me I have to cancel the sale, OK.
I told them, of course, that since it's my first sale, I didn't receive the payment but it was held by eBay, and they replied that there's no problem, eBay refunds it and I don't pay anything, except €0.35.
Now the problems here are these:
1) support doesn't know what it's talking about, or is badly informed, because it keeps repeating the same things to me.
2) I don't understand this rule that I have to put up the money myself first; it doesn't make sense, but if it's in the rules I can accept it, oh well
3) From the links you sent me, though, I read something different: they talk about disputes for various reasons, but in my case it's not a dispute.
I don't want to open disputes, I just want to cancel the sale.
And it would be nice if, when I click "cancel sale", it explained what I have to pay, because then support says nothing has to be paid.
It's an almost Kafkaesque situation.

·1 year agoKafka described situations experienced as real that captivate the reader with their fascinating and engaging absurdity. Just like those experienced in a dream. In a sales platform, however, you have to enter a behavioral mode meant for an abnormal management of users. There are no surreal situations. The way I see it, there are three missteps by lubor. Number one: jumping into the first sale without first testing the waters. ( advice on how to move and how to get started are available on the platform) Number two, perhaps the most chilling, worthy of an Edgar Allan Poe story: relying on a shipping management for one’s sale. The first time, too! The third step is lubor’s decision to want to cancel the sale. Never cancel anything before starting. If I get something moving, I wait for the thing to stop on its own before taking action to put it right. In any case, that is not the crucial point. The hair-raising mistake is number two! Next time though, if lubor wants to continue, they’ll already be savvy. Without repeating the wrong moves, of course.

OP1 year ago"Kafka described situations experienced as real that captivate the reader with their fascinating and engaging absurdity. Exactly like those experienced in a dream. Sorry, but I have to correct you.
Kafka showed the grotesque side of reality, its absurdity and also its "cruelty".
The fact that this absurdity then had "almost" the form of a dream does not mean they were dreams, quite the opposite.
Exactly like trying to untangle the rules on ebay (or other platforms), which can be unclear for someone approaching them at the beginning. But these things are part of our reality, which can become Kafkaesque at any moment.
What I don’t like, though, dear vonbalden, is someone who wants to judge a person without first knowing them or understanding the situation, relying on their supposed "wisdom", like you do.
In any case, everything has been resolved, the phone support was right, everything could be solved with the cancellation of the order.
Thanks to those who helped me, the point of a forum is precisely to help those who need it, not ridicule them.

·1 year agoGood morning,
it seems to me that no one told you that you wouldn’t have solved it by canceling the order... but you don’t explain that you would have had to enter a credit card... which you had been told about very clearly...
A community is also useful if you explain how you solved it...
Kind regards.

·1 year agoI did not mock Lubor and I don't think I unfairly judged a person whom I absolutely cannot know. I simply limited myself, as requested by the original poster, to giving suggestions aimed at achieving a good sale. Advice derived from experience in the field. The use of color is only so I don't always write in a serious and austere way, as if I were in a law firm or notary's office. Please accept my best regards.

OP1 year agoTrue, I got the impression that the guy on the phone was unsure.
But I repeat, this rule that I have to reimburse first, when the money is with eBay, seems absurd to me.
Do you have a link to the policy for me so I can read this rule? Thanks

OP1 year agoThank you,
but in this case I don't have the money to reimburse him.
Can't eBay do it? After all, it's eBay that has the money.
By the way, I have thirty days to cancel the sale, as stated.
So that's longer than the 15 days. And I haven't even provided the IBAN
According to support, which I just called, eBay refunds directly, that's what they told me on the phone
sika700
·1 year agoAnd how did you think you’d collect your earnings without an IBAN?
Anyway, if eBay told you that, try... but if you don’t provide a credit card, the refund will probably be hard to process successfully.
Kind regards.
lubor53
OP1 year agoThanks again,
one thing: so if I don't provide my IBAN or a payment card, they don't even refund the buyer?
marioelegio
·1 year agoSince eBay fees are deducted, there aren’t enough funds in your eBay account to refund the buyer. If you provide the refund quickly using an alternative method, then eBay credits the sale to you and maybe credits back the fees it had deducted (whether the fees are refunded or not depends on the reason you canceled the sale).

If instead eBay has to do the refund, then they still charge you the fees, as if the sale had gone through.

OP1 year agoThank you, this thing is pretty absurd, by the way they should put it in big bold letters. But the other serious thing is that on the phone they didn't tell me about this
sika700
·1 year agoMany times the support guys don’t even know the rules themselves and on several occasions they don’t even know what they’re saying...
Kind regards.

·1 year agoMaybe the characters aren't huge, but...it's written there and you declare that you accept the terms of sale.
We do not issue fee credits in the following situations:
If you don't refund, the buyer will have to open an item not received case to get a refund from eBay. So this excludes the fee credit.

·1 year agoGood morning,
you are a new seller, so in principle your funds will remain blocked for at least 15 days... and it will be like this for all your future sales, until you become an experienced seller.
If eBay has notified you of the payment receipt and therefore invites you to ship but you cancel the sale, you will have to refund it out of your own pocket... then when the funds become available, eBay will transfer them to the bank account you provided.
Best regards.

Besides, I have thirty days to cancel the sale, that's what it says.
now I'm contacting support
