Ongoing anomaly on eBay: incorrect indication to the buyer of the expected delivery times
Summary: edobeta reported an issue on eBay regarding the incorrect indication of the expected delivery times for a buyer.
I'm posting this for the benefit of all sellers:
I've come across (and already reported to support, who I hope will fix it sooner or later) an anomaly (systematic, meaning it affects 100% of sales transactions, certainly over the last 5 days) whereby in the sales transaction data (and also in the data shown to the buyer) the delivery estimate is ALWAYS shown as 24/48h regardless of:
- The time of purchase (even if made AFTER the cutoff time set on eBay), for example if the purchase is made at 11 p.m. at night (and obviously the cutoff time is set earlier, for example 1 p.m.) the delivery is still shown as the next day and also marked as "shipped late" for the seller.
- The expected delivery time for the shipping method chosen by the buyer (for example if the service provides 3-5 days, the incorrect information of 1-2 days is still displayed)
This, of course, besides creating misinformation and confusion for the buyer, exposes sellers to the possibility (I already have a real case underway) of being hit with claims/disputes for "item not received" starting as early as 48h after purchase (I repeat: regardless of the fact that the shipment was sent out regularly within the expected time, the tracking code was uploaded, and it is a shipment with a specified delivery time of >48h).
So BE CAREFUL, I invite you to check the "expected delivery" times that appear on the transaction pages; where you see inconsistencies, REPORT THEM TO EBAY SUPPORT (so at least, perhaps, you can be protected regarding metrics and also get the funds released...)
I hope this is the last "gift" from eBay to sellers in 2024 ๐
