Shipping code.
Summary: amoema expressed dissatisfaction with not receiving payments promptly when a tracking code is not provided on eBay, causing delays even if the item is delivered. marioelegio responded with information that eBay provides instructions for adding tracking codes. astainvista05 highlighted that eBay's language suggests optionality of adding tracking, despite it apparently impacting payment processing. marioelegio mentioned that while it's optional, providing tracking ensures faster payment. daxsisko noted upcoming eBay rule changes that should clarify payment timelines.
Hello, I’ve been able to learn the hard way that if I don’t enter any carrier tracking code, I don’t receive the buyer’s payment within a reasonable time because the item still shows as undelivered even though they have received it.
Unfortunately, I have to note with great disappointment that it is not made very clear that if the seller does not use an eBay shipping code, eBay will not be able to detect delivery in a relatively short time and therefore will not be able to credit the amount that the seller is waiting for.
I hope that eBay can write in plain terms and especially on the shipping page that it is absolutely NECESSARY (without using the word "you can" but YOU MUST) to enter a carrier tracking code, otherwise the credit will happen... when?
I hope this report can help change things because I don’t see any clarity in the relevant sales management pages.
Thank you.

·2 weeks agoEbay will change some rules from September 1st, among these there will also be changes to the timing of receiving credits where, theoretically, it should be clearer when the deposit will take place on the future newborn Ebay Balance

·2 weeks agoYet this seemed clear to me for some time.
Marking an item as shipped
An item is automatically marked as shipped if you use an eBay shipping label or if you manually enter the shipping code.
(from:https://www.ebay.it/help/selling/shipping-items/tracciare-gli-oggetti-che-hai-venduto?id=4088&st=3&pos=2&query=Tracciare%20gli%20oggetti%20che%20hai%20venduto&intent=caricare%20codice%20spedizione&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1132#section1)
... there are also instructions for manually adding the shipping code.

·1 week agoMario, this is exactly the point. The page you cite states that the seller “can” manually enter the shipping code, not that they “must” do so.
If eBay allows a shipping method without tracking, it can’t then effectively turn tracking into a necessary requirement to normally receive sales proceeds.
In our case, they are even withholding proceeds related to items already received by buyers, with positive feedback expressly confirming delivery, simply because there is no tracking code.
So the question is very simple: if tracking is not mandatory, why should the lack of tracking result in the seller’s money being blocked? And if it has instead become mandatory in order to regularly receive your proceeds, why doesn’t eBay state this clearly in its terms?

·1 week agoLet's wait for the new rules.
For now, tracking with confirmed delivery allows for faster crediting.
Without delivery confirmation, new or infrequent sellers will have to wait at least 14 days.
So you can enter the code, but there's no obligation; you just need a bit more patience.

·1 week agoMario, my case, though, makes this situation even harder to understand.
I’m neither a new seller nor an inactive one: I’ve been selling on eBay for about twenty years, I have over 10,000 feedback, and I’ve had continuous activity on the platform.
Also, when you say that without delivery confirmation you’d have to wait “at least 14 days,” I can confirm that in my case more than 14 days have also passed and the funds are still being withheld anyway.
But there’s an even harder point to explain: I have transactions where the buyer has already received the item and left positive feedback expressly confirming delivery, and those proceeds are still blocked too.
You yourself write that “there is no obligation” to enter the tracking number. And that’s exactly the point.
If tracking isn’t mandatory, if I’m an active seller for twenty years with over 10,000 feedback, and if in some cases it’s even already proven that the buyer regularly received the item, what rule is eBay using to withhold my money?
I’m not asking how to speed up the payout by entering tracking. I’m asking something different: why does eBay systematically withhold my proceeds when I’m using a shipping method that eBay itself allows?
If you know of a clause in eBay’s terms that justifies this situation, I’d be happy to read it.
