Advice on shipping to the United Kingdom from Italy
Summary: The discussion is about advice on shipping from the United Kingdom to Italy. frank.ru91_5 asks for information about any documents, costs, and customs procedures, while marioelegio shares his own experience, mentioning the importance of correctly labeling packages and considering the use of courier services to avoid complications. Both also discuss the differences in customs laws after Brexit.
Hello everyone.
I've recently renewed my eBay page, adding some items related to the world of collectible cards, and some of them are in English. Although I have already set shipping to a good part of European countries, alongside the description in Italian with an English translation, I was thinking of further expanding the pool of potential customers by enabling shipping to the United Kingdom, but I have some reservations about doing so, "scared" by the issue related to the paperwork to fill out, not to mention that I have zero experience with the best shipping services to reach the aforementioned destination. I've looked around a bit online, to get an idea, but, if possible, I'd be happy to hear the opinion of someone who is more familiar with the topic at hand. I thank anyone who is willing to give me a hand 🙂
Regards,
Francesco

Even if you use international insured registered mail, it doesn't change much.

OP1 year agoThanks a lot Mario, the guide is thorough, and it contains all the information I was looking for 😁. I only have a few doubts:
- is it mandatory to have an EORI code, or, as a private citizen, can I use my Tax Code?
- what should the buyer provide me in turn, besides their personal details? On the fillable form in the link you kindly sent me, it mentions a generic "National ID", which, I assume, refers to a normal identity document, but searching online, it almost seems like the person in question must have an EORI code. Is that true?
- does invoice mean the one that eBay generates automatically in "OTHER ACTIONS/PRINT INVOICES AND MORE"? Just as I imagine that it is enough to include the order number under "Invoice number of the sale".
Once again, thanks for the tips, and forgive me if these questions seem trivial to you, but I have zero experience with shipments outside the EU 😂
Regards,
Francesco

·1 year agoFor the EORI code, just add IT in front of the tax code.

You have to issue the invoice yourself, even as a private individual (it is not a tax invoice). Follow the Packlink form and guide step by step.

OP1 year agoPerfect, thanks again for all the advice and explanations, I’ll definitely take them to heart. At this point, I’ll seriously consider adding the UK among the possible destinations. If I end up selling something there, I’ll make sure to share my experience, in the hope that it might be useful to someone 😊
Best regards,
Francesco
