Contact the seller / buyer, enter item number 31x68xx5xx0x

I’m opening this discussion because for a while now I’ve noticed the inability to contact a seller / buyer through the item number.

I received a purchase offer, to which I replied with a counteroffer, and the buyer replied to me like this:

Since we’re talking about a tiny price difference for an item that is not currently for sale in Italy, I wanted to contact the buyer to tell him whether we could meet halfway, because we’re talking about just a few euros.

I go to the offerer’s username, then to contact

Then I select the item number related to the purchase offer the buyer made me

And then it redirects me to the sent mail box.

Is this a BUG, or is eBay getting ready to implement further restrictions / limitations on this kind of pre-purchase contact tool?

Is it a problem with my browser?

The fact is that I do not have the possibility to contact the buyer to tell him that between my 34 euros and his 25 euros a meeting point could be found, and if he wanted, he could send me back the purchase offer of 29 euros

Good morning,

as far as I know, you can interact, via item number, only with someone who has actually purchased... not with someone who "intends" to purchase.

I say "as far as I know" because I have never had the need to contact a presumed buyer that way, so maybe things have changed...

Thanks for your attention

I then tried contacting the user without entering the item code, but simply clicked on "does not concern an item" and the message was sent correctly.

So I think it’s a bug / technical issue that they need to fix.

The difference between sending messages using the contact option that does not concern any item is that there is a predefined and rather limited number of messages that can be sent within a certain time span.

So it’s an option that should be used with some moderation because in the past I’ve received the message that for a certain period of time I could no longer send messages because I had used up the ones available.
