Shipping costs calculated automatically?

Hi everyone! How do I enable automatic shipping costs? Right now I always have to set high costs (for example 20 euros for domestic shipping to cover exceptional cases like islands or unexpected carrier changes). But then buyers pay more for shipping even if they don’t live on islands. Why can’t I enter the package dimensions and weight and calculate the costs automatically based on these values and the destination? Basically like it happens on other platforms.

·1 year agoI’d say there isn’t a single answer, otherwise there would only be one courier.
Do some tests and adjust accordingly.

OP1 year agoWhich couriers do you recommend for Italy, Europe and the rest of the world? Which ones have fixed rates? What an embarrassing system, though

·1 year agoFor Italy I’ve never seen big differences, and if you have a standard package (<2kg 20x25x20 to give a classic example) the amount is similar and under €7. I just ran a simulation shipping from Milan to Lampedusa, central Sicily, and Orgosolo in Sardinia just to point out “remote” places
Of course it also depends on the starting location, so you can do tests using your own area
For abroad (which I don’t do from eBay because it’s inconvenient and if it’s EU it’s much cheaper to sell/ship on Vinted) the average amounts are around €10-12 (EU) and €25 (USA). Of course, if you need to ship a chest, the costs change a lot ... 😉

If you charge 20 euros for shipping on an item under 5 kg, you could be ruling out some sales.
Or write in the listing that for islands or remote areas the buyer may have to pay an extra fee.
Or use Poste Italiane services, where usually for islands or remote areas they don't charge an extra fee.

·1 year agoon Ebay you can set sales rules....... but you can't customize them afterwards depending on the location...... in short: you have to evaluate the costs first, maybe by choosing those couriers that don't make price differences for shipping depending on the location ( see "disagiate" ) ....
