Ebay non seria sui feedback negativi
Summary: The discussion revolves around concerns about eBay's approach to handling negative feedback. Participants share experiences and opinions on how feedback is managed and its impact on sellers and buyers. The conversation includes multiple perspectives, suggesting improvements for fairness and effectiveness in eBay's feedback system.
Ebay has shown itself to be not serious about one of my negative feedback comments on a seller who had previously shown himself to be arrogant, presumptuous, and blocked one of my accounts just for insisting POLITELY on asking for information about the inconsistency of the information provided in the description.
Now, if Ebay censors my negative feedback about the seller's behavior and bases everything simply on the fact that the buyer must buy and the seller must sell and take their own percentage, then it should stop the farce of feedback if these must only be positive and tied, if anything, solely to the buy-sell transaction and nothing else (without taking into account the sellers' rudeness and allowing them to do whatever they want).
From today on, despite the positive feedback I will leave, I will only copy and paste this message as a protest against Ebay.

·1 year agoWell, frankly, for big sellers eBay often removes negative feedback at their request.
Some time ago I had bought a smartphone, fortunately of little value, but it came in an opened box and the phone was missing, definitely stolen in transit. However it was packed with half a turn of tape so much so that it could be opened and closed easily without anyone being able to notice; they confirmed to me that they pack it like that... then the couriers either leave right away or just leave it in the garden, so often reserve inspections or immediate disputes are not possible.
simply written: smartphone not present, inadequate packaging
deleted after a week
sika700
·1 year agoAnd what did you solve??
That you kept an empty box instead of properly reporting the problem and asking for a refund!
Hmm...
alex_minishop
·1 year agobut where did you see that I kept the empty box?
I pointed out the issue to the seller, waited a courtesy week (resolved with nothing), opened a dispute, filed the complaint required by ebay, and received the refund.
the fact is that I wasted my time, got the "ding" on my account (which happens with every dispute), and the final courier ended up paying for it (the courier service even called me for a statement of the facts) and maybe it wasn't even his fault.
all this just to avoid wasting a slightly bigger box to keep things under wraps (it was obvious it was a phone) and an extra wrap of tape (also, not transparent, but opaque, so you can't even see the cardboard fibers coming off ).
the fact is, my feedback on the lousy packaging didn't stay up because it was deleted by ebay
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoSo the seller shipped a smartphone that was stolen by the courier, you opened a dispute and got a refund.
The seller lost the money for the smartphone.
And you would also want to leave him negative feedback?
eBay is doing the right thing by removing this kind of feedback.
Kind regards.
alex_minishop
·1 year agoIf it was due to negligence, that is, terrible packaging, (I'm getting a bit tired of repeating it) it seems right to report the issue through feedback. Same thing if the item was broken, the courier's fault or the packaging's? These are things that shouldn't happen, but they do, and at least some effort is made to prevent them. Obviously, all of this was also made worse by the seller's careless attitude.
Kind regards to you too
sika700
·1 year agoThen next time write exactly how things went... not just bits and pieces and leaving out the details that are inconvenient!
If you opened and won a dispute, eBay removes the feedback by default... as per the rules!
alex_minishop
·1 year agoI would have put the whole wall of text if the characters weren't limited. anyway, I didn't know it removed the feedback by default, and that would also explain the discrepancy between ebay feedback and the one on google or trustpilot.
unfortunately I, as a buyer and occasional seller of used stuff, can only say I would never want to buy from that shop and I would like someone to say it in the feedback, you sellers give your opinion. it's normal, fair enough
sika700
·1 year agoSince when have forum conversations had character limits?
Not that I know of...
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoYou forgot to write that you opened a dispute on eBay. Is what I wrote correct?
alex_minishop
·1 year agobut that simply was to show how there was nothing offensive or incorrect in my feedback, which was deleted, and this is OP's topic, namely censorship of negative feedback. it seemed unnecessary to write that I had made the refund.
anyway at least now we've cleared things up
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoIt is NOT SUPERFLUOUS because ebay, in the event a complaint case is opened, then handles the feedback directly even if it was entered while following all the guidelines.
What is the REAL problem, beyond the feedback, do you know what it is?
That if ebay does not refund when a buyer claims to have received an empty package, regardless of whether it is true or not, then sellers start shipping empty boxes.
They can make whatever rules they want, but the system works only if there is honesty and mutual fairness between sellers and buyers.
The seller must factor in that they could lose the item and the money.
The buyer must factor in that they could lose time dealing with the bureaucratic return/refund procedures.
Ebay monitors buyers and sellers, and when it sees recurring anomalous situations it bans that seller / buyer.
Kind regards.
alex_minishop
·1 year agoI’m telling you again, in this case it all would have been solved with more adequate packaging, at least I put a few crisscross strips of transparent tape over the opening points where the labels are, and that way it’s immediately obvious if there’s been tampering. In my case there was half a strip of the opaque kind, and on the phone they told me they always do it like that...
when I sell used phones I even put them inside boxes of low-value items.
all in all, that feedback seems appropriate to me
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoUsually couriers, when they receive a package that can be easily opened, note it in the tracking so as not to take on responsibility in case of a claim.
The seller lost the item and the money because, as you said, he is doing a poor job.
It’s pointless to keep at it because if you opened a dispute with eBay, you can’t be the one to handle the negative / neutral feedback even if it follows the guidelines.
It’s also pointless to keep at me because I don’t make the rules, eBay does.
Kind regards.
alex_minishop
·1 year agofrom our exchanges, the courier had actually only noticed it afterwards; I still have the guy’s message. anyway, the seller had also sent the photo of the package before shipping..it was still half a strip of tape, conclusion: opened and reclosed
lo_gnucco
OP2 years agoGiven the bitter and disappointing tone of many who replied (if not all of them), to put an end, on my part, to this argument that has only confirmed to me the uselessness of social media and communities, I’m attaching to this message the photo of the messages exchanged with the seller (2 of my messages and his reply in between), after which I was blocked.
With this, I’ve closed the argument with those who replied to me by coming down on me no matter what, without even politely asking how things had gone and trying to understand whether my behavior had been harmful or a pain in the ass, as you all wrote.
Does this seem to you like a message exchange that justifies the preemptive block, as the seller then wrote to me? Thinking I was the usual annoying buyer?
His description was inaccurate and approximate; it was my right, before buying, to know.
If he had already prejudged me as a buyer like many others who had pissed him off, he was wrong, since I then bought the item, taking my risks (aware of his 100% positive feedback).
If I’m forced by your insistence after this message, I’ll post all the messages exchanged with this character after my negative feedback (feedback evidently removed because of the seller’s action with eBay).
In all this, politeness and eBay come out defeated, where evidently only economic gain matters for the platform and the seller, all at the buyer’s expense.

Sorry for my bitter tone. I didn't mean to rub it in.
As the good @vonbalden writes so well here, nobody here wishes you ill.
From your last message I think I understood.
You want to judge but not be judged. You thought badly of the seller but he can't have formed an idea of you (maybe a wrong one).
This is what I can infer from your last message.
That's enough for me.
Best regards!!
heavenwelkin
·2 years agoDear lo_gnucco, besides not accepting the opinions of other forum users, you take it personally, even acting offended and questioning the usefulness of this forum.
The seller had provided you with an answer and you could already tell from the tone that he had taken offense, to which you again replied in an "polite" manner as you say, but certainly not appreciated by the seller.
It seems to me that in the end you did not receive an answer to the long question you had asked, but decided to buy the item anyway with another account.
Please keep in mind that eBay's marketplace protects buyers in the event of items not conforming to the description.
In practice, one can avoid questioning what is described by the seller and, in the case of an item not conforming, request a full refund.
Anyway, it seems to me that in the end the item was the one described and that the "polite" questions you asked turned out to be unnecessary.
Best regards.

·2 years agoOh, poor me!!!
This one was new to me... what a jungle, a jungle?????
Here there are people who devote more or less as much of their time to trying to do things properly.
Some do it for work, and some have defined it as their main "hobby".
I often end up blocking buyers who insist on asking REPEATEDLY for explanations about things that are explicitly written in the description. I’d rather block them than have future problems. And more often than not, they write to me offended that they were blocked. One told me he would report me to the platform because he couldn’t buy from me...
In short @@lo_gnucco maybe a bit more respect would be needed???
lo_gnucco
OP2 years agoSo it’s not clear to her what happened, and instead of asking for clarification, she goes on the attack: the listing description showed two brands for the same item, two different codes, and a code handwritten on the box, as shown in the seller’s photo.
For having POLITELY asked whether there was a typo in the description, for having asked whether the code was the one correctly written in pen by him, for having asked whether the item was plastic or metal, the annoyed SELLER replied to my one and only message that the item is the one in the description (containing the inconsistencies I mentioned), period.
Now, since the seller wrote in the description “item not returnable,” I sent a second POLITE message asking him to answer my questions and, getting no further response and seeing at that point that my bids on the auction were blocked because of his restrictions, he simply blocked me, taking away EVERY BUYER RIGHT I had. And why? He later explained it himself on another one of my accounts: “....I know what some buyers are like, they ask too many questions.”.
Now, if you think this behavior is acceptable and consistent with the selling rules, then yes: eBay is no longer for me, a serious buyer who pays promptly for items immediately after winning auctions.
So, as a buyer, I have the right NOT TO WASTE MY TIME writing back and forth with sellers who aren’t serious, who have this kind of attitude, and who then don’t want certain things reported.
You SELLER, behave properly and I will definitely leave you a positive feedback.
As for the other harassing users, I don’t give a damn at all: I am me and I speak for myself, and I do not excuse any seller who paints everyone with the same brush.
heavenwelkin
·2 years agoSeveral swear words 🤣😂
I think I'm capable of dealing with a "particular" buyer like you, the problem is that not all sellers are able to or want to deal with potentially problematic sales or time-wasters.
So if a seller shuts the door in your face, you need to ask yourself the right questions to avoid this happening again.
Otherwise, fine, you're right, the others are wrong, and you feel entitled to use eBay's available tools inappropriately.
Best regards.
truedefender
·2 years ago@@lo_gnucco, yes, very likely, as you yourself wrote, Ebay just isn't for you.
Then, forgive me, but this line: "I am me and (you) the other sellers are not a..." is really depressing.
As other users have written thoroughly here, there have always also been sellers who are a bit unfriendly or a bit impatient, but, and this situation is an example of that, there are also many buyers who don't behave well and, as @sika700 wrote, I would ask myself a couple of questions...
lo_gnucco
OP2 years agoheavenwelkin
·2 years agoAbsolutely NO
I can understand a private chat or a private chat group where, if there isn't a moderator, everyone is free to behave as they see fit.
On eBay there are a whole series of rules, so it's not just you and the seller; you also have to take into account the structure/platform that hosts the buyer and seller meeting to complete a possible sale.
If the seller blocked you, he must have had his reasons; I don't think a seller would let slip the chance to sell an item when he has the opportunity.
Evidently something happened that led this seller to choose not to complete a sale with you.
You say you did nothing wrong and that you were polite, but the fact is that you had to open another account and pretend to be someone else in order to buy that item.
Then you started writing personal judgments on eBay in another user's feedback profile.
I can understand that you may feel bad about it, but user blocking is found pretty much everywhere now, from Facebook, to WhatsApp, to Subito......
In conclusion: You were blocked by a seller, accept it, analyze the whole situation and you'll see that next time it will go better.
Kind regards.

OP2 years agoTired of just replying to “against” comments without anyone calmly asking things, I’m attaching the image of the messages exchanged with the seller.
I was blocked on my second message.

·2 years agoThe gnucco, start from the assumption that, as in real life, there can be initial attitudes that make us come across as not very likable or attractive, both in the eyes of a female audience and a male one. Nobody really knows anyone well in a public forum; everything is based only on the impression that what we write first arouses in our interlocutor. In sales, there are incomprehensible figures who do not wish to explain anything more than necessary. And there are just as many buyers who ask a ton of questions to test a seller, to catch them out on what they described. It’s possible that the person on the other side is laconic, and immediately thinks it’s a waste of time. While sometimes, there is a sincere desire to have additional information from the other person. This misunderstanding can happen in shops, in restaurants, in the family, everywhere. Once they introduced me to a girl because I had asked friends for a bit of company. Despite my attempts to socialize, I couldn’t connect. She didn’t like my jokes and the way I came across. I gave up. I understood that insisting would only make things worse. Maybe with that seller the mistake was not giving up. In any case, I think nobody here means you any harm. Especially in a pre-holiday mood. Best wishes from von

1 - in your opinion the seller isn't serious because he blocked you? Do you understand that he simply decided he couldn't/wouldn't sell you his stuff. Is that not serious?
2 - I've asked for clarification in the pizzeria too, but I've never been thrown out. Exactly. The owner would not have easily given up a customer, just as an eBay seller would not easily give up a sale.....
3 - listen to me. I'm a seller as well as a buyer. I think that if you experienced both sides of this platform, you'd see these situations in a less drastic way.
4 - I agree: @sika700 "I can simply give you advice for both accounts:"

·2 years agoLooks to me like you're already making your "great" impression in this jungle... congrats on the "ethical" behavior you had to get that item at any cost and for having "premeditated" the feedback...
Real congratulations!
lo_gnucco
OP2 years agoSince you're so strict about ethics: I bought the product, paid immediately, left my feedback, so I was very honest and by the rules, I wrote right away that the transaction had gone positively.
Then I reported the first behavior of that arrogant and presumptuous person who blocked me despite my POLITENESS in the messages, showing a lack of seriousness and superficiality.
So you can write whatever you want about me, I did the right thing, end of story.
Because the damn behavior of some sellers NEEDS to be reported. I have excellent relationships with other sellers on ebay, even real-life acquaintance, having been to dinner with them AFTER the transactions.
Express your opinions after asking questions about the dynamics and not for what you can't understand from my words.
sika700
·2 years agoYou didn’t understand anything... this isn’t about rules, but about knowing how to behave, and you behaved really badly, far from the opposite!
Remember that a lot of buyers also have shitty behavior, you’re one of them and that’s exactly what we’re all calling out... out of three replies received, all three were against you... I’d be asking myself a couple of questions!
Have a good day.

·2 years agoReally, you're the one starting the "jungle" with that positive feedback that doesn't follow eBay's rules.
On eBay there are rules regarding the leaving of feedback, so that feedback you left could also be removed if the seller reports it to eBay.
You can't jump in to play on a soccer field if you don't know and/or don't follow the rules of the game.
You started writing your own personal opinions about eBay on another user's feedback profile, just like you, but do we realize that?

·1 year agoyou're absolutely right, eBay favors sellers because it takes a percentage from them, a seller sent me a monitor that was cracked on the back, with a non-adjustable foot replaced by an adapted piece. In the feedback I attached some photos as proof. The seller wanted to make money on an item picked up from a landfill. He won't take it back, and as compensation he offers €3, with this seller's sly trick, eBay doesn't accept the feedback
heavenwelkin
·2 years agoAnyway, if you're a new member on ebay and you're already reacting like this to these argumentative and contentious posts, I don't know how long you'll manage to hold out on ebay.
As sika700 wrote, there aren't only rude sellers, but there are also buyers who make you lose your temper with their insistence or absurd requests / demands.
Kind regards.
heavenwelkin
·2 years agoDear lo_gnucco
If you had the possibility to leave negative feedback, it means that you bought an item.
If this item does not match the description or the photos, you can open a claim for an item not as described.
In this situation the seller may also have blocked you, may even have replied to you rudely, but he will still have to deal with this dispute and issue a refund in your favor.
So once he has had to refund you and spend money to get the item back, maybe he will think twice before behaving rudely with buyers.
In any case, feedback is left on the item and not on the seller’s behavior; any personal judgments that have nothing to do with the item purchased may lead to the feedback being removed.
Furthermore, for defamatory feedback one could be reported and Ebay could become involved, so in these cases the feedback is deleted.
I understand the annoyance but the complaints should concern shipping times not respected, items different from the description or photos, or other issues strictly linked to problems with purchases regarding the item.
Kind regards.
*candira*
·1 year agoIn fact, I received a smashed monitor back, the seller doesn't want it back and offered me a refund of 3 euros, with that sly move from the seller, I couldn't leave feedback
*candira*
·1 year agoI wanted to warn other buyers that that seller, who has 100% positive feedback, isn’t very serious, but eBay probably doesn’t care, as long as they collect their cut
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoDear *candira*
I read the discussion you opened in another topic and I’ll tell you that if you wanted a refund you should have opened a claim for an item not as described and followed the procedure.
You would have received a full refund and return shipping would have been paid by the seller.
This is the correct procedure:
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-refunds/restituisci-un-oggetto-cambio-di-un-rimborso?id=4041
If the seller offered you a solution that you deemed unsuitable, if you had not opened a return process, if the feedback did not comply with the guidelines, it was removed from the platform.
These are the guidelines to follow for leaving feedback correctly:
https://www.ebay.it/help/policies/feedback-policies/regole-sui-feedback?id=4208
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Kind regards.
sika700
·2 years agoWhat do the sellers you leave feedback for have to do with that rant that makes no sense and has no usefulness, given that ebay doesn’t monitor or check feedback?
Negative feedback is removed at the seller’s request if it is found to be inconsistent with ebay’s own rules, or if it is defamatory.
If you leave negative feedback just because of the seller’s “character,” you also need to look at your own approach toward them, since polite insistence doesn’t exist... either you keep insisting, or you are polite by dropping it and going elsewhere!
Remember, it’s not only sellers who are rude... but buyers too!
Anyway, just to be on the safe side, I’ve added you to my black list too!
Kind regards.
