Experiences with disputes on eBay
Summary: greenalp reported selling a bike on eBay and faced a situation where the buyer contested the size inaccurately, provided irrelevant photos, and received a refund without returning the item. greenalp is now pressed to reimburse eBay and a financial company. cizeta1964 advised that sellers must follow eBay's return policies or risk losing money and the item. ricambimalta1981 suggested involving a lawyer, which greenalp confirmed they have already done. The discussion highlights seller concerns over eBay's handling of disputes and the importance of understanding eBay's regulations before selling.
I sold a bike on eBay, but the buyer, wrongly claiming it wasn’t the right size, sent unrelated photos. After that, eBay decided to refund him without making him return the bike, unfairly keeping it. Now I’m under pressure from eBay and from a finance company to refund their payment. Has anything like this ever happened to you? How do you handle situations where eBay seems to support fraudulent buyer behavior?

·3 weeks agoBefore putting an item up for sale, you need to read the rules and, if you don’t like them, don’t put it up for sale. By putting it up for sale, it means you’ve accepted them, so disputing it afterward is pointless

·3 weeks agoEbay refunded the buyer, exempting them from returning the item because you didn’t set up the return within the timeframe specified by ebay itself; there’s no other protection except following the rules, otherwise you lose money and the item.

OP3 weeks ago · Editedin the sale it was stated that the buyer had to return the item, not that I have to pay for the return shipping, and written in the eBay listing it violated the rules by siding with a scammer who sent fake photos it needs to be reviewed and re-examined the seller must send the bike back as long as the bike is not returned I will not pay the balance due to eBay which also blocked my sale payment eBay is violating the rules my lawyer wrote to them but they do not respond I was sent eBay complaints

·3 weeks agoNot only did you write in a completely incomprehensible way, you wrote to a community of users and NOT to eBay.
If the item is not as described, whatever the reason, the seller has 4 days to arrange the return at their own expense; otherwise they lose both the money and the item.
It is clearly written in the rules, I guess the lawyer will explain it to you.

OP3 weeks agothe rule of giving reason to a scammer who faked everything but is eBay the law and a branch of the state?

·3 weeks agoThe rule that provides for return shipping at the seller’s expense, in the event of a product that does not match what was promised in the listing, has been a law in our state since as far back as 1942.
