Expired fire extinguishers received for €2, 54.80 label photo 2021, received in 2007 and 2010
**** sold me 2 expired fire extinguishers ( 2007 and 2010 ) when in the sales photo on Ebay it was 2021.
He says to send them back to him, but the shipping costs are on me, according to him. Basically, he sells expired stuff knowing he doesn't pay the shipping costs himself; whoever receives the "package" also has the burden and insult of the €10.90 shipping cost. But as my lawyer says, you CANNOT sell EXPIRED fire extinguishers!!!!!

Having said that, I suggest that the nice author "moca-ciò" (Mantuan, which sounds roughly like "nail-cutter": it referred to carpenters who, rather than drive back in nails that were too long, would cut them off flush...) delete the eBay account and use Amazon only and exclusively.
While it lasts...

OP1 year agoEven a child would understand it... he sold expired fire extinguishers! What does it matter that he's a private individual? I'm speechless...

OP1 year ago"remnants of a ceased business"... Yeah, too bad the sales photo showed the year 2017, the ones received were 2007 and 2010... but is that getting through to you, or do I need to draw you a picture?

·1 year agoIf you deal with private sellers you have to be:
- flexible (in general)
- flexible
Now in your opinion, what should a private seller with 10 or more fire extinguishers with dates ranging from 2005 to 2020 put as the date of last inspection to fill out the auction on eBay?
It's normal that he puts an approximate date, but aside from that, what's the problem?
Fire extinguishers have to be inspected every 3 years, so if yours is dated 2007 and the auction says 2010 or 2015, explain to me where the problem is?
They are still expired and need inspection.
But if for you this is a scam, what should the real scams be called?
Best regards.

OP1 year agoYou just can't seem to get it into your head..... expired means unusable! Not sellable! If you post a photo of a 2017 fire extinguisher and then sell 2007 and 2010 instead, that's called fraud! It's a basic concept to understand

·1 year agoLook, I went back to check the fire extinguisher auction.
The seller had 6 items, all of which he sold.
From the photos it does not appear that the year of production / expiration is written, so go back and check the auction and you’ll see that nothing is shown in the photos.
In the auction it says year of production 2021, so it is an expired fire extinguisher.
The seller could certainly have opened 6 separate auctions, entering the exact data for each fire extinguisher to satisfy even the most meticulous buyers.
If I had been in a similar situation, I would have checked that the fire extinguisher was intact and perfectly working, with no damaged parts, then I would have taken it in for inspection/refilling.
End of story.
Then if you want to play the PROBLEMATIC buyer, you can cling to/call out these little details and you can quite rightly say that the item is not compliant.
But I repeat, you are dealing with a private seller who, except in rare cases, can never be on the same level as a professional, so try to be more flexible.
Then you were already advised that on eBay it is possible to open a dispute for an item not as described and obtain a full refund with a label paid by the seller, so I really don’t see the use of the word FRAUD..
Kind regards.

·1 year agoNo scam and no excuse... Did he tell you that you can give them back to him? Give them back at his expense and that's it, following the proper procedure, what other approval do you need?

·1 year agoTry drawing a little picture for us... maybe the whole community will understand that you bought it blindly... but is it really possible that you don’t understand that even if they hadn’t expired, a 2017 fire extinguisher would still have needed servicing?
Servicing has to be done every 3 years... so the idea of wanting to buy a new fire extinguisher from a private seller for a few Euros is a senseless demand...

·1 year agoGranted that on ebay sellers are selected, so in my opinion if out of 3 feedback ratings 1 is negative and 1 neutral, maybe you need to take the time to look at everything more carefully.
You bought the fire extinguisher from a private seller in USED condition and paid 16 euros for it instead of the 50 or 60 euros it would cost, so in my opinion this negative seems excessive to me.
The other neutral, you bought a folding handlebar, which is a piece of metal with a spring in the center, so I don't see the reason for leaving a neutral for an item that does what it's supposed to do.
I am more and more of the opinion that ebay did well to change the weighting of feedback to the most relevant ones rather than by date and did well to be more flexible regarding their removal.
Kind regards.

·1 year agoBut did you realize who you bought them from?
Private seller who clearly states they are "leftovers" from a closed-down business... did you think they were new?
That's not an excuse... but opening your eyes would have saved you the "disappointment"!
Kind regards.

·1 year agoRequest a return and refund (through the eBay procedure) for an item that does not match the listing.
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/returns-items-not-received-refunds-buyers/restituisci-un-oggetto-cam...
In this case, return shipping costs will be borne by the seller.
