FUNDS BLOCKED WITHOUT REASON, LONGTIME SELLER
Hello everyone,
I’ve been registered for about 15 years, never had a problem, all positive feedback 100%, both as a private seller and as a professional seller.
And for a few years I hadn’t been listing anything for sale because of time and work.
A few months ago I started selling again and I realized that eBay’s rules have changed drastically to the detriment of sellers, I’m mainly referring to blocked sales funds, meaning that a few years ago you could use sales funds to pay for shipping online or withdraw directly from the card at the post office and pay for packing and shipping costs.
Today this is no longer possible, you have to already have enough credit on the card to cover packing and shipping costs in advance.
When you provide the shipping code it is not enough to unlock the funds, you have to wait until the package arrives at its destination and the buyer leaves positive feedback, OTHERWISE THE FUNDS ARE BLOCKED
My questions and eBay’s answers are:
1) If I don’t have any other funds besides the sale funds that are blocked, how am I supposed to ship? Answer: If you don’t ship, the funds stay blocked
2) If the courier accidentally breaks the package and the buyer doesn’t sign with reservation, as often happens? Answer: the buyer opens a dispute for damaged package and the funds remain blocked for any possible refund to the buyer
3) If the courier by mistake doesn’t notify delivery as often happens? Answer: the funds remain blocked (you’ll have to be very patient and get in touch with the shipping company)
4) If the couriers are late delivering beyond the expected times, and the buyer, disappointed by the delay, leaves negative feedback? Answer: the funds remain blocked for more than a month
5) If, as often happens, the buyer leaves negative feedback just for the sake of it? Answer: the funds remain blocked for more than a month
Whatever happens, eBay washes its hands of it, placing all responsibility for the transaction on us sellers, and if something goes wrong, even if it’s not our fault, they still unfairly take away the sales funds.
Over the phone, eBay says that I was the one who accepted these new rules sent by eBay via email, I replied that these new rules are not a small design change, but a radical change that should have been communicated carefully, at least by registered mail or certified email, and then it would have been up to us sellers to choose whether to stay or not.
Sorry for the rant, I’m bitter because I gave a lot to eBay, like all of you sellers
I already know this rant of mine won’t change things, but at least on my side I’m no longer subject to these absurd rules, which are legally very questionable.

·3 years agoUnfortunately, all of this is a consequence of the changes decided, I believe years ago, by eBay, and implemented starting in 2021 with the elimination of Paypal as the account for receiving sellers’ sales funds.
Meanwhile, if you keep using the platform to sell, you have to accept the new rules or stop selling. The rules may be liked or not and can be discussed, but if they decided so, there is nothing to do except move toward other platforms that, however, have other kinds of problems.
For the change, eBay sent various messages and various emails to the addresses linked to seller accounts, but it is not obliged to send certified emails or registered letters; even if it wanted to, it would be technically and economically impossible considering the number of users the platform has. Who would pay for the registered letters?
Certified email is not even worth considering because eBay accounts are created with one simple linked email address, so it is obvious that eBay sends communications there.
The only thing you could have done was read the messages and emails that the platform sent in 2021 to all sellers; I don’t know if you missed them or deleted them.
If you do not want to accept the new conditions, you are free to do so, but you will no longer be able to sell, and I’m telling you this as someone who did not accept them. Otherwise, I can tell you that you described very well all the problems that arose with these changes. I only hope they come to their senses and maybe create a new internal system of their own that works in a similar way to Paypal, and that they set up a dedicated support section.

Having already contacted support, which confirmed to you that (even if unknowingly) you accepted the new selling rules, all you can do is keep up with the various changes that have taken place in the meantime.
The world is digitalizing in the meantime, everything is done online, even bank accounts are opened online, and on the public services side services are being activated to eliminate paper.
Whether this revolution is a good thing or a bad thing is another matter......
eBay, which was among the pioneers of online commerce, should in 2023 send registered letters to millions of users to notify them of yet another contractual change to accept ??
Best regards.

·3 years agoHello,
this was missing from the list... the sending of registered mail or certified email...
With all due respect, when phone rates are changed unilaterally, do they send you registered mail or certified email??
If all goes well, they send you a simple message, as ebay did!
So what did you do with the items you sold in December?
You accepted the new rules... and now unfortunately you regret it...
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoIt's normal that I regret it because they should let us know, especially when there are major changes.
The little 10-page message is read by no one, or almost no one, whereas a registered letter or a certified email is taken more seriously.
So, with all due respect, if what you were missing from the list was the idea of a registered letter or a certified email, that's your problem, because legally that's how it should work.

·3 years agoAnd if you accepted the new rules without reading them, that’s mostly your problem... and the story about the registered letter or the certified email is definitely absurd!
Happy Sunday.

OP3 years agoIf you're here to insult, we can go on forever!
I know the rules and I accepted them by continuing to use the site, there's no need for you to keep repeating the story about the registered letter or PEC as you keep mocking since the very first message, and anyway that would have been the only thing that would have made legal sense.
I only wrote to share my rant about the change and not to hear some fake professor who knows a lot less than I do.
There are hundreds of complaints scattered across the various sites about these abuses, emails cannot constitute a contract or a change, unless you're the one accepting it. I repeat, not everyone sits down to read 10 pages of emails, most people only notice once it's already done.

·3 years agoInsulting?
I don't think you know more than I do, when you don't even know the meaning of "insulting". I don't think I've offended anyone... and if for you the word "story" counts as an insult... too bad!
So if you know the rules and accepted them, there is no point in sticking to your position, you know perfectly well that it makes no sense!
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoGot it, you're here to be a pain in the ass...!
You're the one who keeps insulting, and you don't understand what people are trying to say, so go bother someone else somewhere else.
You're a provocateur, you only know how to insult, you can't do anything else!
Maybe I don't understand the meaning of "insulting" but you don't understand anything you read.

·3 years agoHey... calm down, calm down... if you don't know how to behave in a "forum" and therefore can't accept whatever answer you're given, it's better that you stay in your own "little world" and avoid that kind of tone... it doesn't help anyone!
I read it carefully, don't worry, both what you wrote and what you didn't write... in fact, you've shown yourself exactly as I thought!
