Suspended funds - HELP
I’ve been buying and selling since 2005 and only now do I find out that... Ebay can block your incoming payments???
I close 2 sales, ship within 12 hours, and end up with 850 euros blocked:
- a sale closed on September 28, marked "Funds on hold: awaiting delivery Expected release date: Oct 11"
- a sale closed on October 2 with the note "Processing: to be completed on Oct 03"
How is that possible? why? what rule could I have violated? what’s the logic of busting your ass to communicate, pack, and ship at lightning speed if then the money arrives after 2 weeks? I don’t even understand whether the buyers paid through PayPal or Ebay.
Of course, this very month when I needed them by the 10th
Anyway, aside from paranoia and getting pissed off, I’m asking you guys:
- is there a way to get them unlocked sooner, and what is it?
- how can I avoid the problem so I can apply it to the other sales in progress?
thanks

·2 years agoIt’s not the eBay staff who has to read... it’s you who has to read the rules... it’s all written:

·2 years agoYou're writing to the Community here, so to other users. No one from eBay support will read anything here.
You have only 1 sale, so it's normal that your funds are blocked for at least 14 days; that's part of the rules you should have read before starting to sell. In any case, they already pointed you to the page with the details, read it.

OP2 years agoThere you go, funds unlocked and already received in the account.
I thank all the users who had the same problem in the past and who, contacted privately, gave me support and info for the solution.
Helpful people who don’t spend their days on the forum exchanging useful votes in search of a purpose in life

Allow me to STRONGLY DOUBT that any of the forum readers got in touch with a user privately rather than publicly, MORE THAN ONE PERSON EVEN.... to provide tips for unlocking the funds
And/or otherwise, if contacted by you, they gave you support and tips.
After your post, the following three possibilities almost certainly happened:
A) The funds were unlocked automatically because the eBay system assesses the block based on many variables that can range from a few days to over 30 days.
B) Someone on the eBay staff read your post and made it so as to speed up the release of the funds.
C) In the meantime the items were delivered and/or the feedback was left and the funds were unlocked.
The users who kindly and free of charge offered to answer your questions posed in what I would call a "rather unpleasant" way were one better than the other at keeping calm and measured tones.
The next step? Insisting on being right at all costs. Making these users out to be fools, clueless and time-wasters who spend their time sparring on the forum.
If you feel offended by this intervention of mine, I am willing to admit that I am mistaken and to apologize publicly.
Could you kindly show me privately the screenshots of these users who help privately but are unknown publicly, giving tips to make sure that blocked funds (as per eBay rules for sellers who are not very active) are released earlier than expected? You can also blur the nicknames, but I would like to read about the content of these tips if possible.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoOn the contrary, I’d say the opposite: you simply let yourself get carried away by anxiety about getting your funds immediately!
For the sale on October 2, you had the funds exactly within 2 days, as per the normal timing; for the sale on September 28, you simply had to wait 7 days... I’m afraid there’s instead an incorrect setup in the receipt of funds... you noticed it too late and complained about the “funds hold”!
It would instead be appropriate to publicly show what kind of help you received... just to be of help to the community... because writing “bla bla” the help is useless!
Kind regards.

·2 years agogiven your zero contribution to the Ebay community, you'd make a better impression if you kept quiet..... that said, I notice a fair amount of ignorance about Ebay procedures from someone who has been using it for years..... and then I'll stop so as not to go any further and make other comments..... there would be, in fact, others.....
PS: don't waste time on your ( useless ) reply......

OP2 years agoIn the previous years, more or less a year of sales suspension had already passed, and in the subsequent ones I didn’t experience any block, already written at least twice if only you had listened.
Good evening

·2 years agoBut since you're the one who doesn't want to listen or understand... or you're pretending not to understand... remember that things change and this is how it is now, whether you like it or not!
Have a good evening!

OP2 years agook, as you say, I don't want to understand, but on the reset I replied to you on the point:
"In previous years, a sales freeze of a little more or less than a year had already passed and in the following ones I did not suffer any block"
Can you explain it? calmly, you don't have to make it a personal issue. On a forum, information is shared that can be useful to everyone.
I only don't reply to insults because they say something about the person who makes them, not the person who receives them.
sika700
·2 years agoUnfortunately no, because I'm not an eBay executive, you should ask whoever runs the marketplace... but as mere users, we simply have to accept the changes... if we want to keep using the platform.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoIt's very easy to explain: things change, on eBay and with eBay, and eBay doesn't always bother to notify you, except in the terms and conditions.
But since we all make mistakes and we all say things that aren't true (eBay included), as soon as you can chat with someone from eBay support, show (the support team) that everyone is wrong, that the reason for the payment hold is not what we're saying, that you are not an "infrequent" seller, and get your money back in advance.
Then come back here, prove it with a copy of the chat and share it with everyone: now those are useful pieces of information for everyone, otherwise up to now it's all just been your talk, basically rather inconclusive, and definitely useless.
h224g
OP2 years agoIn fact I didn’t ask for this, but I also didn’t ask them to say things that aren’t true.
Congratulations to you too for your constructive comment
Have a nice evening to you too
h224g
OP2 years agoah, it only reads to get itself into trouble.
Ok now I get it, one of the two must be true:
Otherwise there’s no explanation for someone who, when faced with precise and detailed posts, replies by citing a rule I had already linked, whatever.
--------------drawing a line --------------------------------------------------------------------------
I read in other old posts on the topic that even if the transaction were canceled, not only would the funds hold not be lifted as basic logic would suggest, but the seller is even, so to speak, forced to front the buyer the funds for the refund out of their own pocket! So if the seller doesn't have the funds they end up in dispute, complaint, account block, etc. etc.
This goes beyond the limits of what’s legal, that’s obvious.
That it’s written in a rulebook changes nothing because:
not good

·2 years agoTo you, who instead are a genuine intelligence, and therefore not artificial, I reply as follows:
1. I cited eBay’s rules; the arrogance and blinders are yours, not mine
2. You don’t know the community or its rules; otherwise you would know that there are no points, eBay makes a “ranking” but without any meaning or advantage
3. My reply “crossed paths” with yours; I opened the link afterward
4. If with all that you have written, devaluing and despising the replies received, you manage to prove to eBay (and not to the community, which is something very different) that it is wrong and to get the money before the estimated time — always from eBay, of course, not from the community — be sure to let the community know.
It will be useful for everyone to have certain information, especially for those who still have not understood how eBay works, and come into the community to take it out on the unfortunate person who has the misfortune, out of pure courtesy, to reply to them.
Good luck!
cizeta1964
·2 years agoI forgot (you know, us artificial intelligences...): I'm waiting for your brilliant solutions, too, for the future, I hope you don't do like most of the posters who haven't understood how it works, that is, they come into the community, blast away at 0 not against eBay directly (which is objectively harder), but against whoever replies (which is much easier) because they don't give the answers they expect and then disappear back to where they came from before their problem, that is, from nowhere.
h224g
OP2 years agobut does this read? or only write?
idk 😂
cizeta1964
·2 years ago"this", as you define it, reads and writes, and belongs to a community of users like you. eBay's rules are as follows: at present you are "new or not very active" to them; if that doesn't satisfy you or you're not convinced about it, speak directly with eBay, I imagine you know how to do that.
I doubt you'll receive answers different from this one.
h224g
OP2 years agoYou're wrong, I don't fall under any of the rules, and the number of sales is not stated in the policy as you can see for yourself.
I've sold 75 items in 18 years, only 12 of them in the last 8 years!!!
Granted, if you can even talk about rules:
It's insane, it's a blatant abuse
cizeta1964
·2 years agoUnfortunately, I’m not wrong, that’s exactly how it is, and even if it weren’t for me and you, it is for ebay.

sika700
·2 years agoYou do too... in the last year, based on feedback, there are no sales, and that’s what eBay cares about, not your entire track record.
If you don’t know exactly how it works, don’t go after someone who’s trying to help you understand how it works, especially since the problem is yours and remains yours, not the person replying to you’s.
Good sales.

OP2 years agoIf I didn’t qualify in this last year, I didn’t qualify in the previous years either, as already written.
Here’s another genius who reads 1 word out of 5 and instead of trying to ask, think it through, just goes off.
And you, who instead know everything ''''exactly'''' where does it say that it takes one year to become an infrequent seller? where does it say for how long the funds are blocked? where does it say what amount is blocked? Where does it say, tell me, professor
The problem is yours too, because by answering like that you’re not making a good impression.
But hasn’t it ever been written here that silence is golden?

Satisfied... or do you need to keep going with YOUR embarrassing display?
cizeta1964
·2 years agoFor new (or infrequent) eBay sellers, as per the rules, a preventive hold is applied to funds. After the first sales (I don't remember how many), the hold disappears, so you just need to wait.
