Good morning everyone. I sold a motherboard, stating in the listing that I would include, free of charge, a set of 16GB RAM (8GBx2). The buyer initially claims that the RAM was not working, giving errors with memtest, which is not true because the RAM runs at 3600mhz while the mobo supports up to 3200mhz and if you limit it, it works. He then insisted on the fact that he received 32 GB of RAM instead of 16gb, so 16x2 claiming that it does not match the description and is asking for a refund. I specified that the RAM is free of charge and, due to my mistake, he also received a better product than the one specified in the listing. Who would be right? Thanks

·1 year agoit’s not a question of who’s right, since it’s a distance purchase (and on eBay at that) if he wants to return them, he can return them and you have to refund him

·1 year agoAre you sure the buyer is disputing having received 32gb of ram instead of 16gb of ram ?
Maybe you meant the opposite, namely that in the listing first you write 2 x 8gb of ram and then below you write 2x 16, which actually isn’t clear.
You need to be clearer and more specific next time.
If the buyer is disputing having received 16gb instead of 32 gb, offer them a small price discount to avoid them maybe opening a dispute for an item not matching the description because then you’ll have to pay the return shipping and in the end you’ll be out both the outgoing and return shipping costs.
If the buyer won’t hear reason, I recommend taking back the item and then relisting it, trying to be less confusing in the description.
Best regards.

OP1 year agoHi, thanks for the reply.
No, he clearly wrote to me that he received 2 16GB sticks for a total of 32GB. Afterwards I realized that in the description, due to a typo, I had written 2x8GB (even though the correct amount was still specified below).

·1 year agoSee if you can somehow reach an agreement with the buyer by weighing the pros and cons of a possible return.
For example, considering that a possible return for a non-conforming item would cost you the shipping you bought to send it + the return shipping (let's say 12 or 14 euros), you can try apologizing to the buyer for the mix-up and maybe propose a refund on the price.
For you, up to the price of the shipping costs, it would still be worth it.
Best regards.

·1 year agoTo be honest, the listing is a bit confusing: in the title you generically write 16GB.
Then in the body you specify (8gbX2) and that makes sense.
If it weren't for the fact that then you add: "RAM included: Corsair Vengeance Lpx Ddr4-Ram 3600 Mhz 2X 16Gb"
To the average user's reading, it seems like you're providing two 16GB modules included in the auction.
The wording "included and free of charge" is placed ambiguously after the description and does not specifically refer to any additional 16GB.
So eBay, in the event of a dispute, could side with the buyer and force you to accept a return (or to make your own price reduction proposal to the *seller).
Edit: *buyer (even though it was obvious...).
