I put a 6x5 cm lighter shaped like a revolver up for sale and eBay removed the listing...
Why does it say I can’t sell firearms on the platform.
Item placed in the “lighters” category.
In the title and description it clearly says that it’s a lighter (even without gas).
In the photos you can see that it’s a lighter (at most it could be mistaken for a keychain given its size)
Possible?

·2 years agoand if someone puts a Sex Pistols or Guns N' Roses record or memorabilia up for sale, does it get removed because it has pistol and guns in the name?

·2 years agoIf these keywords are on a list of banned words, YES.
As vonbalden suggests, you need to use alternative substitute words.
Of course, the substitute phrases are not the same thing and during search the difference might be NOTICEABLE, and you could lose potential buyers, but that’s the hand we’re dealt and you have to adapt.

if you enter Sex Pistols in "music CDs and vinyl records" there shouldn't be any problems.....
different if you put it in the "toys" category.....

And now, I’ll explain how easy it is to run into removal. Europe has a big influence on this kind of control over online platforms, which are required to strictly follow the rules. It’s always better to take a look (not too quickly) at all the prohibited or restricted items on the site, but know that three among them are the black sheep. For example, you can’t put up for sale medals from the fascist twenty-year period showing Mussolini’s face. History, as we know, doesn’t bear grudges but...you also can’t put up for sale a reproduced jacket, a flag, or other items related to the United States Confederate Army. It gets removed. You can’t post sexual items that arouse repulsion, aversion, and an invitation to a disgusting perversion. One by one, they get removed over time. And we’ve reached number three! You can’t put up for sale working or deactivated weapons of any kind, not even replicas. My miniature 12-gauge Safari was taken down. You need to pay attention to the listing title and the photo. You can get your listing back on track with the right adjustments. Like, say, a small lighter with a miniature Colt .38. Great as a souvenir, to hang on your key ring and for collecting. Vintage!!
