Is the Platform in Decline?
Summary: vonbalden's post raises an issue regarding the possible decline of a platform. However, it does not provide any further details nor does it receive any replies, leaving the question open without further discussion.
There was a time when alternative platforms seemed to have taken over. They were all anyone talked about. Websites kept popping up like mushrooms, even ones specialized in selling vintage items that promised big business. And what margins! Anyone who didn’t register seemed to be missing a moving train. Personally, on well-known foreign sites and others, I offered my best pieces. The ones that, in some cases, the relatives who left them to me had bought long ago and that were already expensive then and out of reach for most pockets. On these alternative platforms I always got a ton of questions like :
' would you ship it to Cornwall to a relative of mine who left and now wants to come back with an original object ? Sorry, I don't know much about it, but is the watch a fake or is it real ? I mean, is it gold ? And again : soooo beautiful ! Grandma had the same one but she wouldn’t leave it to me ! What a shame ! Moral of the story: I never sold anything. In years, not months. There were difficult and stagnant times here too, but there’s no comparison. You can really be seen even at the North Pole if you decide to. I closed my registrations elsewhere with great relief. After paying the amounts due for ceasing activity without reaching any goal. What a relief! Unforgettable moment. In faith, von.
