I can't use my profits
Good evening, I’m a very new amateur seller. I’ve sold a few items, but e bay doesn’t allow me to use my earnings. It asks me to enter a bank card. I already have a card in my profile that lets me make purchases and receive payments. I don’t see why they should force me to add a new one. Contacting them is impossible. The only way out, since I can’t proceed, is for me to delete my e bay account. Thanks to anyone who can tell me something. Miky

·2 years agoGood evening, I would like to use micro-deposits too to set up Hype as the payment receiving method, but I only get 2 options: direct bank verification and bank statement... Why doesn't it give me the micro-deposit option??

·2 years agoGood afternoon
I believe it is simply a matter of TERMINOLOGY, where direct verification means exactly that.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoI saw that there are other recent discussions with similar issues.
So it could be a temporary problem because they are updating the list of banks.....
Try contacting eBay support and see what they say.
Or wait and try again in a few days.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoI made a first sale of €10.90 net, just to see whether with the basic Hype account it’s possible to withdraw the funds. The account is shown as unverified; in fact, bank login didn’t work, so I tried requesting the micro-deposits. Hype support told me there are no problems associating the Hype account with eBay and told me to contact eBay, while eBay support told me to wait for the micro-deposits within 1-3 business days, and then enter them. At the moment I’m being told in red to update the account details for payments within a month, so as not to run into further restrictions.
I noticed that, according to Hype’s sheet, the basic account includes free direct debit, but does not include the option for recurring bank transfers, which are available only with Hype Next.
I’m curious to see whether the micro-deposits will arrive, but the fact that the account verification didn’t go through right away makes me think that the basic Hype account isn’t enough to receive payments. But support told me to wait for the micro-deposits. I’ll give updates.

·2 years agoThe recurring transfer on ebay isn't needed.
By recurring transfer, we mean when you instruct the bank to make a recurring transfer to a beneficiary every month, every two months, every three months, every four months, every six months, etc.
As for the micro-deposits, on the information sheet it seems to me that nothing is written regarding the receipt of transfers with minimum amounts of 5 or 10 euros, so theoretically you should be able to receive the micro-deposits.
Keep us posted.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoI understand, thanks for confirming the periodic bank transfer. I thought there might be some kind of connection between the concept of "periodic transfer" and "direct debit". I think the confirmation via bank wasn't possible because Hype base or "Hype SPA" doesn't have internet banking, only the smartphone app.
To my surprise, within 12 hours I received the two micro-deposits in the app, which I then went on to enter. The verification at the moment was successful and the red banner disappeared, but I would say we still need to wait for ebay to reverse the micro-deposits, that could cause problems too.
Kind regards

PERFECT
Thanks for updating the post confirming receipt of the micro deposits.
Your post will be useful to everyone who asks for info regarding HYPE
We will be able to confirm that the Hype Start account has been UPDATED for all customers in the HYPE account (simply) and that therefore it works with eBay.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoI also confirm the withdrawal of microcredits by ebay within 24 hours, shown in the app exactly as "direct debit". So everything’s fine.

·2 years agoHi, I have HYPE NEXT and I received the micro deposit, how do I "enter" it so that the red banner goes away?
heavenwelkin
·1 year agoYou need to follow the instructions.... you have to note down the amounts of the micro-deposits received and then enter the values when prompted.

·2 years agohype support told me that with the change to the terms in 2022, the free plan now also has direct debit and direct payment (it used to be called hype start). So it should be possible to receive payments from eBay even with hype and not necessarily with hype next.

From a quick search I learn that:
Hype start no longer exists and since 2022 it has simply been called Hype account
then there is Hype next and Hype premium
This should be the updated information sheet, and it turns out that direct debits are enabled just as the operator told you on the phone.
From here you can download the PDF of the information sheet updated to 2023
https://www.hype.it/SSRDocumentDisplayer?dtdPG=B23_HYP&dtdPE=1&firstTP=hype_trasparenza&lastTP=hype_trasparenza
So all you have to do is try it and let us know.
Best regards.

·2 years agoGood morning, yes, I’ll give it a try, still waiting for tests from other users. Thanks for the link and for the reply, best regards.

·4 years agoTo be able to collect payments, the card must have an IBAN (it must be a checking account) and it must be enabled for direct debits (bill payments).
They don’t force you to enter it, but until you do they won’t release your payments.
When you started selling, you knew the eBay rules, or at least you declared that you did.
Cards with an IBAN like Postepay standard and Hype start are fine for paying but are not suitable for receiving payments; cards like Postepay evolution or Hype next, on the other hand, are fine for both paying and receiving.

·2 years agoBut is there proof of this thing? I have hype start and I’ve received payments from other marketplaces like vinted and sites like upwork. Why couldn’t I receive from ebay?
heavenwelkin
·2 years agoHYPE START is not suitable for eBay
For one thing, it doesn’t accept direct debit for utilities, and this is fundamental because eBay needs to be able to have authorization to withdraw when necessary.
Then there’s the issue of micro-credits and I don’t know if HYPE START allows you to receive foreign credits from 0.01 to 0.09 euro.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoI get it, the only thing that happened to me a while ago with Hype Start is that I tried to pay with PayPal through Hype Start but the transaction wasn’t possible, and they themselves had confirmed to me that direct debit is not supported. On Vinted the payment ends up in a deposit in your account and then it’s possible to withdraw it, while on Subito an IBAN with BIC/SWIFT is enough. I thought eBay’s mechanism was the same as TuttoSubito’s and the other marketplaces, because eBay allows Hype Start to be linked to the seller account and gets it ready for selling, but then it could happen that before receiving a payment the micro-deposits don’t arrive. I personally haven’t tested it and haven’t gone through it, but thanks for the feedback heavenwelkin. Actually I think I’ve never had micro-deposits arrive on Hype Start.

The information that forum users give you is hardly provided by official support and you can only find it thanks to the forum’s “skilled” users ref. https://accademiadellacrusca.it/it/parole-nuove/skillato/18453
eBay does not reject an IBAN outright during registration, but when it then sends a request for authorization of the withdrawal the whole operation stops if the card account is not enabled.
On other marketplaces it works differently; each marketplace has its own operating mechanism.
I learn from you that Vinted (which I have never used) holds the money in its own space and then sends it to the buyer, something that also happens on Subito.
eBay, in this respect, is more experienced because it knows very well that with Paypal there are up to 180 days to request a refund and with credit cards even longer, so it asks for authorization for direct debits if needed because..... YOU NEVER KNOW......
That’s all.
Best regards.

·2 years agoYou're right, in the official rules there is never information that specific. Anyway, when you sell on Vinted the money ends up in your own account and can be withdrawn later or used to make purchases on the site. Whereas earnings from Subito go directly into a current account or into PayPal, there isn't an available balance to spend on the site, exactly like eBay. In the case of Vinted, once the buyer has approved the item there is simply no possibility of a refund anymore. In the case of Subito it's the same, if the buyer approves what they received or the limit days pass (from 3 to 20 depending on the shipping chosen, managed by Subito or customized) there is no possibility of a refund. I understand, so eBay protects the buyer for refunds, but unlike the other two examples mentioned above, you can't close a purchase/sale 100%. When a purchase/sale is completed on Vinted or Subito the story is over, the sites do not return money to whoever approved and do not take money from whoever sold. But then when a person pays on eBay does their money go straight to the seller? Doesn't it end up in a deposit account and is it held momentarily by eBay? I understand.

·2 years agoWhen a buyer pays by credit card or PayPal, the “story” doesn’t necessarily end with confirmation that the item was delivered.
The buyer on Vinted, Subito or eBay can open a claim many months after payment.
I don’t know how Vinted and Subito handle claims in these situations, but on eBay the withdrawal authorization is precisely for these cases, which are still fairly rare.
It’s not a common situation for a satisfied buyer who leaves feedback to then open a claim after 6 or 12 months, especially if it’s a private sale of used items.
If the buyer pays by credit card or PayPal on eBay, that money is then transferred to the seller’s account within 2 days.
For new or infrequent sellers (who make few sales per year), the money is held for longer and so let’s say it stays in a sort of eBay funds deposit before being transferred to the seller.
