The reasons can be different, rightly expressed above:
- economic crisis
- competition from other sites that didn’t exist before
- the DAC that, like it or not, somewhat limits transactions
- shipping costs that are way too high compared to the value of certain items
You can’t buy an item for €20 and pay €15 for shipping. It’s inconceivable if not ridiculous.
I mean, as a seller you’d pocket €16-18 (commission, packaging), lose time, just to make the buyer pay 35?
I mean, really.....
Either you make lots, or you sell rare goods/of a certain value, obviously describing the products well.
Then anyway not everything sells. Many items risk having a very low market, if not none at all.

the problem is that eBay is against the buyers and in favor of you sellers there is no more protection for the consumer then returns are paid for, the shipping costs are higher than the price of the product and I’ll stop there ...!
the "paid return" has caused so much damage, Amazon...
The "paid return" is a legal obligation that the customer must fulfill if they return something for any reason other than a defect in the product or a false description of it..
it's the same on Amazon too for marketplace orders, on Prime Amazon decides to do you a favor..
In the rest of Italy, everywhere on any platform or site, the law applies
I’ve investigated the topic thoroughly; if you go to the product search statistics in your eBay account, you’ll realize it clearly. There are statistics there for items for sale and sold items across all of eBay, and you can search for any item, from clothes to all sorts of other things. You’ll notice that there is a massive presence of items for sale compared to those sold in the last 30 days. This has created supply that is much higher than demand. With the fact that eBay no longer lets listings expire, things are becoming very complicated for all of us. While trying to sell a 64 GB USB stick, I found that there are listings for USB sticks that are 3-4 years old. Let’s say that there are no longer people who give up on selling, since listings don’t expire, and everything has slowed down in everyone’s earnings. If we also add that eBay puts sponsored results first and also those who sell the most right after that, the chance that they’ll find your listing decreases a lot. I recommend doing auctions with Buy It Now; these still have some visibility, at least in the last days of the auction. Good luck to everyone.

Before giving advice, I’d invite you to review and correct your listings.
Have you noticed that these are displayed in Dollars instead of euros?
Have you noticed that no Italian shipping is offered for Italian buyers?
Have you noticed that it’s not very clear what you’re selling regarding USB memory / adapters, since there are rendered photos and the description is in English?
Many times words of enthusiasm have been heard for new “explosive” sales sites. Etsy, Subito, Vinted, if you don’t see it you don’t believe it, and so on and so forth. But.. these platforms are like little circles meant for people looking for something with no pretensions. I mean, a little mirror picture with the words viva la birra buona, a pack of baby wool booties, or the old record by Cugini di campagna. It’s neither selling nor buying with the intention of making a profit, or out of collecting mania. As already stated on these pages, they seem ideal for hallway acquaintances or for swapping something after the boring condominium meeting. Not to look down on them eh ! But just to get a truthful picture of the opportunities. In a broader landscape then, the buyer in general in Italy and Europe does have a tendency to buy, but a very limited one right now. He’s a collector of permissions that he has to get first from all the family members.

From what I’ve seen too, it’s not that these new platforms are better than eBay or can replace it at least in the short to medium term; if in the future a truly competitive one comes along, structured like eBay, we can’t know.
Vinted is niche and there have been various scams, especially from purchases originating abroad (comments read on trustpilot); Wallapop has its commissions and I read some time ago about an article on some issues, which I don’t remember the type of, and I don’t know if they’ve been resolved.
I looked for some product categories on these and other alternative platforms, but little or nothing. If you then go into vintage, there’s no competition, eBay remains the only place where you can find almost everything.
Then we can discuss the platform’s problems (but they all have them), but I assure you that for now there isn’t a valid alternative.
At a national level there’s Subito as a platform, less restrictive (if you don’t use the new intermediary service) but obviously the chances of finding what you’re looking for or selling are much lower.
I sell practically nothing… One item every 2 months!
I have items that have been watched for ages, but they don’t get bought!
Nothing changes even with free shipping!
Then, I mean… I see items for sale that were already for sale
when I signed up in 2014; but how is that possible?
I’m really disappointed!
that said, among other things without going into specifics, it also depends on what someone sells and on how they create the listings (in addition to the general downturn in recent years due to obvious broader economic problems) ....... anyway, if someone sells as a private individual, being able to complete a transaction is all to the good..... it's a different matter if someone sells professionally and if one has these doubts, they probably belong to the second group...... even if on Ebay they are not registered as such.....

The ceramics I had I couldn't even give away for free to friends or relatives. And since I needed to get rid of them, I opted for a local ad at ZERO cost, whoever wanted them could come and pick them up FREE.
I think eBay's problem is one thing. The way of interacting with the world has changed; what initially brought in more profits, (bringing in professionals, companies, etc.,,,) is becoming a boomerang. (Fixable. let's be clear, eBay was born for auctions, okay, a few more options, but mainly for auctions of new or used items. Let's be clear, Italians like the game, feeling like the main character, that bit of suspense in snatching up an item, winning an auction... If I find an item at a fixed price from a professional seller..what is the convenience of buying an item on eBay rather than getting it with prime or elsewhere.. let's think about it people, let's think about it

I think you didn't quite understand the problem... which is neither eBay's nor the interface with the world...
The basic problem is Europe... the new DAC7 regulation governs how marketplaces must get their users to regularize their situation... the auctions he is referring to can no longer be tolerated and can no longer be buried under the "black market" that has always set this platform apart.... the "real" private sellers who occasionally sell something have nothing to fear...
And as long as there’s this new puke of “You have to pay to get ad visibility”… no one will buy and sell on eBay… times have changed, but eBay has fallen behind, not understanding that: no person with even a minimum of intelligence will pay all this money/tricks from eBay to have “the hope” of selling a little something, let alone buy items that are much more expensive on eBay than on any other ecommerce…. only suckers would let themselves be fleeced like that!
Actually, eBay came later; advertising has existed everywhere for years, beyond commissions on sales. The truth is it really has 1/50 of the traffic Amazon has..
On eBay, ever since they introduced paid visibility for listings, nobody sells or buys shit anymore… oh well, we’ll have to come to terms with it by using other ecommerce sites… for sure only idiots would pay, ON TOP OF THE COMMISSIONS ON SALES, ON TOP OF LISTING FEES, for VISIBILITY now too. But you people at eBay are crazy as a chimney…

You've been complaining about eBay since April because you can't sell your items.
We also got that you don't like sponsored listings.
Oh well, that's the patience we readers need to put up with your ramblings, we're already up to 12 posts.
In Italy, freedom of speech still exists, even for keyboard warriors like you unfortunately, who have such a “full” life that they latch onto anything just to insult complete strangers they’ll never know, as their pastime/reason for living …so you’re not obliged to read my “rants” just as Ebay does right to heavily tax people like you…they deserve it! have a good life

We may be in Italy, but you’re writing on a public forum governed by clear rules of conduct...
The word "rant" is not at all offensive... it means "Wordy, emphatic and inconclusive speech".
So before insulting others, let’s try to be careful with our words and stay respectful of each other... especially since by continuing to write that you don’t like sponsored posts, you’re not solving anything at all...
Now they've even introduced the vomit-inducing thing that if you want to sell, you have to buy visibility for your listing on top of the commissions it already makes Ebay earn... otherwise your listing won't be seen by anyone anymore, unlike before.... so now no one sells anything anymore, since no one is willing to pay this extra extortion, and Ebay, shooting itself in the foot, gets it in the....
it's much more obvious now in June. they changed the views algorithm to encourage the use of "promotions". basically I've had a clear 30% drop in visits "Ad impressions" and "Ad page visits".
