Item not delivered, eBay refunds at my expense
Summary: The discussion concerns a missing delivery and a refund issue with eBay, where the author julian_2853 is seemingly not responsible for the loss but has to bear the cost. Several participants, including mocer-75 and heavenwelkin, engage in the thread, though specific details and potential solutions are not provided.
I’ve had an account since 2004, over 1000 feedback, I had a handheld transceiver for sale for 98 euros including shipping. It was purchased and paid for. The next day I shipped it using eBay’s shipping service, Packlink.
I tracked the shipment and after 2 days it showed as delivered.
After a week I received a refund request for an item not delivered.
I called the buyer (7 feedback) and he confirmed that he had not received anything and had not been contacted by phone by the NEXIVE courier from Pistoia.
I asked him please to go to the courier’s office, not far from his home, and check who it had been delivered to.
He did nothing, he just kept insisting with eBay for the refund.
eBay initially sided with me, but then immediately changed its position and took my money back including the fees; as justification I was told that the seller is also responsible for problems caused by the couriers.

·1 year agoif the tracking shows it was delivered, theoretically the seller should be right...... , still, the buyer may then have opened a dispute through the payment method..... maybe that's how the fact that they initially sided with you, then later everything was reversed, is explained..... unfortunately on Ebay this can happen ( especially if you run into the “dishonest in a different way” of the moment, who knows the rules by heart..... )

·1 year agoActually, I don’t understand this, even with all the little clauses in the rules. If tracking shows it was delivered (and the address is exactly the one specified by eBay ... and if the buyer makes a mistake, that’s their problem), then whether the appeal was filed with PayPal, eBay, or directly with the credit card company, the seller has proof that they acted correctly.
This was reiterated to me years ago by eBay itself when the parcel I had shipped and delivered to someone but not to the buyer could no longer be found (it was later discovered that it had been the doorman, who had gone on vacation in the meantime and had kept the parcel in the locked lobby): in plain terms, if you have proof that the parcel arrived, then the only thing the buyer can do is file a theft report (against unknown persons), but the seller does not have to refund.
then, as we know, if it’s the AI answering, trouble is just around the corner. It’s better to talk to eBay on the phone

·1 year agoAnyway, the user you entered in the feedback was either transcribed incorrectly or was deleted from the eBay platform, since they do not appear as an eBay user.

·1 year agoAnyway you can’t leave this kind of feedback:
I quote:lxxxxx1 TERRIBLE. I was fooled by eBay, it was enough to claim I had not received the item to get the money back. All with regular tracking, courier name and delivery time. TERRIBLE
First, because as a seller you can’t leave negative feedback inside positive feedback.
Second, because you publicly posted the buyer’s nickname in plain text when eBay had obscured it.
Third, you could be reported for defamation.

·1 year agoPost a screenshot of the package tracking, possibly redacting sensitive data.
If it shows as delivered, in theory you aren't responsible.

OP1 year agoI’ll have sent the package tracking 20 times to ebay, Packlink and Poste Italiane, in theory I’m not responsible
I’ve been told 20 times, but ebay has already gone ahead and refunded the buyer with my money and I’ve lost an item that I paid 180 euros for and sold for 89.

·1 year agoNexive was bought some years ago by Poste Italiane and looking at the feedback, it's terrible; let's say that relying on such a courier may not be exactly wise.
Putting that aside, as eBay explained to you, the person responsible for the shipment until delivery is the seller; it would have been YOU who had to step in to solve the problem, you asked the buyer to go and investigate, he wasn't required to do that, while you were waiting for a response from the buyer did you take any action?

OP1 year agoOpen your mouth and start talking. I trusted Poste Italiane with next-day shipping. The shipment was sent with SDA. I tracked it and after 3 days it was marked as delivered, at that point I was calm and waiting for feedback.
After a week I got a refund request from ebay for item not delivered.
At that point I did everything I could. Contacted Ebay and they confirmed delivery.
Contacted Packlink and they also confirmed delivery. Contacted the post office to find out who had signed for the pickup. Unfortunately nobody had signed.
So I asked the buyer for a favor, asking him to go to the Nexive office.
I get it, I should have driven to Pistoia myself to figure out where my package had ended up.
A few months ago I was waiting for a package, I get the msg saying it was delivered but I can't find the package.
I didn't stay on the couch waiting, but got in the car and tried to track down the courier right away, I found him after an hour and managed to recover my shipment, he had left it together with other deliveries somewhere else. If I hadn't done that I would have lost 400 euros.
