presale

Good morning everyone,
being sure (that it’s a done deal) that in about 50 days I’ll have an item to put up for sale, I was thinking of putting it on presale and setting the shipping time to 40 days (10 days of margin is better). Now my question is this: today, 17/2, I put the item up for presale and with 40 working days I get to around 17/4 to ship it (+ or -)... after 20 working days, does the listing always remain at 40 days... or does it automatically count down? Because if it doesn’t count down automatically I have to make the changes myself, otherwise the buyer is put off or, having bought it on presale and I ship it the next day, starts asking questions... thanks for the help

OP1 year agoI forgot to mention, making a profit, the fact of selling implies making a profit regardless of whether one then donates the proceeds to charity. If you sell, you have revenue regardless. And you also have revenue even if you then not only make a tiny gain, but even if you take a loss. In my opinion, of course.

OP1 year agowe have different opinions, in my opinion worrying or not about how pre-sales work doesn't matter at all, the mere fact of using a structured e-commerce platform such as ebay with the possibility of receiving constant orders indicates an organized professional activity.

·1 year agoWithout a doubt, you handle yourself well dialectically, but that doesn’t change the reality of the facts.
Precisely because you do it so well, yours is an organized sale, certainly not a random one, so much so that you’re worried about presales, an implicit admission that you’re doing all this to profit from it; the fact that the margins are laughable doesn’t change the intention.

OP1 year agoanyway, coming back to my case, if I know that in a certain amount of time I’ll have some vegetables to sell, what’s the difference between doing a pre-sale or a sale with delivery in 40 days? are the 40 days in the pre-sale automatically deducted? do I get any benefits if I’m not able to fulfill a pre-sale compared to a sale? basically, these are the things I don’t understand 🙂

OP1 year agothanks for the compliment, if I don’t seem like a private seller to you it means I’m handling things well, as for the dropshipping, it’s not something I’m interested in, I grow plants on the balcony and in a little patch of land, I do it as a hobby and sell some of the surplus, I think dropshipping is when you have your supplier ship directly to the end customer and you put your name on it and take on the risks in exchange for a margin, while pre-sale is when you still have to acquire a product, as in my case where it’s February but the first plant products will arrive later, unless one has greenhouses, lamps, etc., but that’s not my case, however I’m trying to get organized here on eBay, figuring out how certain mechanisms work, even if to be honest it doesn’t really change my life.

·1 year agoNot for pre-sale, but for dropshipping, but I’d say it’s clear you’re not a private seller.
When you need a professional account
If you want to sell occasionally, for example items you don’t use, the best choice is a private account.
If instead you want to sell large quantities of items you made yourself or bought for resale, or if you already have a business outside of eBay, you need to register a professional account.

OP1 year agoDo you mean that private individuals can’t do a presale?

OP1 year agoWhat I still don’t get is: if I predict that in 50 days I’ll have strawberries (barring certain risks such as: rain, hail, cold snaps, theft, vandalism, moles, mice, snails, birds, rabbits, wild boars, health permitting, and not much else), what difference does it make if I do a pre-sale at 40 days or a sale with delivery in 40 days? Do I get any concessions in case of delays or non-fulfillment? mmmmm
ortofantastico
OP1 year agoif it arrives late or doesn't arrive, it's a mess and I have to refund everyone . but the question is: the 40 days I set, are they then automatically deducted from the expected delivery day? and if they are deducted, does 40 days remain visible to the buyer or are those deducted too? I don't get it, I should try 😞
ortofantastico
OP1 year agoyes 50 days for goods to arrive ... 40 days are working days which translates into 8 weeks, 2 months, so +o- I have 10 days of leeway in my favor -.-"
ortofantastico
OP1 year ago6 days of buffer to be precise, then it depends; if I post at the end of the week it can become 8

·1 year agoSo you already knew everything... and what if it arrives late?
sika700
·1 year agoGood morning,
to be compliant with the presale, you need to guarantee shipment within 40 days... so if it arrives in 50 days, I’d say you’re not respecting the fundamental rule.
Best regards.
