Hello everyone,
I wanted to share my thoughts regarding sales on the eBay platform.
I can't understand why certain types of listings on my account are systematically removed for violating the platform rules, while I constantly see hundreds of listings from the same publication still being sold.
Question for these idiots: do the rules only apply to me and not to others, or am I a bottom-tier seller? In that case I'd like to say that there are other platforms too, and it costs me nothing to go elsewhere. An explanation would be appreciated. Thanks

·5 months agoEbay closed the following philately listing for me, with this reason--- We had to remove one or more of your listings because they did not comply with our Offensive material policy. ---What do you find offensive about it? Thanks for any replies. '' (S535) Kingdom of Sardinia 1863 with upside-down effigy ''

·5 months ago"Inverted effigy" or "Upside-down head": In some contexts linked to political propaganda or sensitive historical events of the 20th century, the display of upside-down images is considered a symbol of hate or desecration. The algorithm may have generically associated the concept of "upside-down head" with forbidden graphic content.
It is possible that the system mistook the effigy of Victor Emmanuel II (present on the 1863 stamps) for another more recent and controversial historical figure, especially if the listing photo showed the face upside down.
Change the Title if you decide to repost: If support gives you the green light, try using extremely technical language to "calm" the algorithm:
Example: "Sardinia Stamp 1863, Variety with inverted center, Fourth Issue". Avoid terms like "head down" that may seem less professional and more "suspicious" to a bot.
Specify in the Description: Clearly write that the item is a piece of Italian philatelic history, with no offensive intent whatsoever.
Note: Do not try to repost the listing identically without first speaking with support, because eBay severely penalizes accounts that try to "circumvent" a removal, even if it is blatantly unfair.

·1 year agoFor 23 years I have been posting listings on ebay, but today ebay's AI memory check suspended all my listings. eBay suspends listings with generic reasons that had nothing to do with my case, so it was really hard to understand why they were suspended; I realized they were blocked because I am precise and I had made a detailed description with a link to download the phone manual in many languages ebay says this situation encourages customers to leave the site to buy elsewhere. I have been writing detailed descriptions for 23 years and now the automatic AI check blocks them. The AI check works against eBay and will make many frustrated customers lose patience, customers who cannot modify their listings and who are honest sellers.

·1 year agoUnfortunately, that means for 23 years you haven't read the rules... external links are expressly prohibited.

·1 year agoHi marcogsm
Once the sale is complete, you have both the customer's email (the encrypted ebay one that delivers messaging directly to the customer's email account) and the phone number where you can send links on whatsapp.
Or, once the sale is complete, you can send a message with the link to the manual directly through ebay messaging.
External links can also lead to malicious sites, so in my opinion ebay is right to keep the situation under control.

You have to ask them directly, this is a community of users like you, not eBay.
A clarification would be appreciated. Thanks
See above, it's still a community, not eBay.

·2 years agoHello,
here on the forum you will never get the official clarification.
The example that fits perfectly is getting a fine for exceeding the 130 limit on the highway... what do you do, complain to the officer because others are going faster than you?
This time it happened to you... another time it will happen to others... the moral is that if it is prohibited, it is prohibited, and if you see other similar listings this does not authorize you to put it back on sale.
Kind regards.

OP1 year agoDivide and conquer. If we do it like this, obviously we’ll always have it up our ass, because someone will always do whatever they want and someone else will always have to keep quiet. Very well.

·1 year ago"If we do it like this"... what??
None of us has the power to do otherwise... if you manage to get it into eBay’s heads that you’re in the right, let us know... and if you can’t, then what do you do?
Maybe it’s time to seriously consider your own phrase: "there are also other platforms and it costs me nothing to go elsewhere"
Have a good evening.

·1 year agoSorry, but who are you talking to?
To ebay or to the sellers who break the rules (including you) but, unlike you, go unpunished?
If an auction breaks the rules, it gets removed.
There was probably a manual check or someone reported your listing and, after a check, it was found to be breaking the rules.
Sooner or later the same thing will happen to the other auctions that break the rules.
Making the automated rules too strict could create false positives and cause problems with auctions that don't break the rules.
You'll see that these auctions will be removed.
Then certainly there will be other sellers who, seeing that others do it, will post them too in an endless loop.
My advice is to stick to the site's rules and avoid posting those auctions that, according to eBay's rules, are not allowed.
If you keep at it, you could also get temporary account suspensions or worse....
Kind regards.
