Purchase Offer
Good morning,
I made a purchase offer to this seller who listed an item for €54. He accepted my offer of €45 but added €9 extra for no reason, bringing the total cost back to €54. Can they do that? They could have just declined my offer. How can I refuse without my profile being penalized? Thanks

·2 years agoGood morning,
you probably hadn’t noticed that the amount was €54 + shipping... you only realized it afterward... is that possible?
Because it’s not possible to enter an “extra” amount without a reason... or was it a non-EU seller where VAT was simply added...
Best regards.

·2 years agoexactly,
the VAT one is one of the possibilities, another could be the increase in shipping costs after the offer.....
in any case, the tendency of whoever posts the question is to write some things and omit (intentionally or not..... ) others....
let's see if a clarifying answer will arrive (this too is NOT a given... )

OP2 years agoI checked with another account because the seller is selling four pieces of the same product for €54 and in the cart total it gives me the correct amount, which leaves my suspicion intact.

·2 years agoAs already stated in these public conversations, there is an entire diverse panorama in online sales. And every purchase or every sale can turn into a final surprise if one does not resist the impulse to keep checking one’s steps without getting an idea of the other party’s behavior. It is useless to deny that we are living through a period of recession in which the imperative is to push the parties, that is, sellers and buyers, toward selling and buying. Everyone must do their duty and move forward. The problem is that if things start off on the wrong foot, or if there is a formal flaw that lingers, rather than moving forward and doing one’s duty as a consumer or a seller, one goes backward. And unfortunately, in whatever field one works, it should now be clear that we are not a country where things get sorted out. Maybe sometimes it happens. When it no longer serves any purpose or no one cares anymore. Best regards.

OP2 years agoI didn’t leave anything out at all, why would I have bad intentions? I don’t mind paying €9 more. I was just curious. The seller is Italian, but it’s probably VAT, though it’s a nice coincidence.

·2 years agook, this is a lot clearer now: in my opinion you should only pay the €45 + free shipping, so I would ask the seller for clarification on the extra charge (since, if he is Italian, it can’t be VAT),
so, question: are you sure he’s Italian and not registered elsewhere but ships from Italy (or at least claims that and then ships from ....elsewhere) ?
PS: the first post wasn’t written as a question about a simple curiosity.......

·2 years agoif he accepted one of your offers, something else must have happened that you didn't specify : so please specify what you mean by extra without any reason......

·2 years agoIn automated mode there are only these two options as shown here:
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers/segnala-un-problema-con-un-venditore?id=4022
- my item hasn't arrived
- I want to return the item
In your case, after reporting the seller, it would be a good idea to contact eBay support and explain the situation and why you want to cancel without it being counted as a "defect".
you can contact eBay support starting from here:

Kind regards.

If the seller has added these extra costs (which have nothing to do with shipping costs) you can report it by going here:

There are several options, choose the one you think is most suitable.
Kind regards.
