Purchase protection
Summary: nicola.1965 is a private seller discussing changes in eBay's fee structure for listings on the Italian and French sites. They note that while the price adjustment reflects new fees in these markets, it does not appear on other eBay sites like Germany or Spain. sika700 responds by clarifying that the new rules are specific to Italy and France, suggesting that selling elsewhere incurs no change. mazafil is curious about how these changes affect different transactions, noting discrepancies in payout based on buyer's location and site used, despite having the same listing price.
Hi everyone, I'm a private seller. With the new fees in effect from 01.09, I noticed that listings published on ebay it or fr have been modified with the new fees. But if I log in through an ebay site that isn't it or fr (for example de or es, where I sell occasionally), the price has stayed the same.
So:
- if I sell a product for 100 euros in Italy or France, the buyer pays 104.70, ebay keeps 4.70, and I receive 100
- if I sell the same product and the buyer purchases it from the ebay de site, does he pay 100? What does ebay keep as the fee? How much do I receive?
I don't think you can differentiate the price based on the site the buyer purchases from.
I think something is escaping me......
Thanks

·1 month agoThe purchase protection from 01/09 is a total joke, and it’s also illegal since it arbitrarily changes the initial price set by the seller. Many people no longer buy from private sellers because they are not willing to pay an unjustified 7% fee

·1 month agoI’d like to see what happens if an Italian person (with shipping to ITALY) buys on ebay.de
A German person on ebay.de buys for 1,00€ and I receive 1,00€
An Italian person on ebay.it buys for 1,17€ and I receive 1,00€
And in the case above?
An English person on ebay.uk buys for 1,05 and I receive 0,98€
and yet it’s always the same listing at 1,00€

·1 month agoHello,
it says in the new rules that if you sell in Italy and France it’s free for you... if you sell elsewhere nothing changes, 5% commission... etc...etc...
Best regards.
