In my view there’s a very big flaw in the case where the buyer opens a dispute for an item not as described using their payment method, so PayPal. As sellers, there’s only the possibility to respond on that one occasion that’s given through the form on eBay. Then they can no longer respond. If the buyer, obviously, claims the real or presumed existence of a defect, PayPal, as is right, authorizes the return and that’s where the problems begin. For the seller there is no way to appeal in the event that the returned item is not the one they sold or shows obvious signs of tampering. In fact, for the seller it is not possible to contact PayPal directly because the dispute was opened through eBay and so the seller is treated as a third party and PayPal does not listen to them, neither by phone nor through a complaint.eBay support, on the other hand, when contacted through various methods by phone or by email appealing against a defect, etc., clearly states that it cannot respond further to the dispute opened on PayPal by the buyer. There is no one at eBay who is responsible for responding on PayPal, for example in cases where the returned item does not match what the seller shipped, that is, it is different.So if the buyer, absurdly, returns a banana instead of the item, the seller has no way to point this out to either PayPal or eBay, so legal action is the only option.For me this is a big problem, abroad there are those who exploit it, maybe they buy a graphics card identical to the one that broke for them and send back the broken one, but they’re smart because they open the dispute on PayPal and obviously not on eBay, and if the returned item is different then I, as the seller, have no way to appeal, neither directly through PayPal as I explained nor through eBay support
