Has shipping to non-EU countries become risky, or is it just my impression?
Summary: homonostalgiens shares concerns about three international shipments outside Europe, all with significant problems. A package destined for Norway was lost by a courier, one to New Zealand has been stuck in customs for 20 days, and another package in Canada requires additional documentation. homonostalgiens wonders how effective the EORI code is in facilitating customs procedures and expresses frustration with the difficulties encountered despite having the proper documentation.
Three shipments, all with problems, and wouldn’t you know it, all in territory outside Europe. All within less than two months.
1- A package in Norway refused by the buyer, got lost because of the UPS courier, nobody knows how, even though it was on its way back.... it still seems to be stuck who knows where in Oslo.
2- A second package in New Zealand stuck for customs checks for 20 days ( even though everything was documented with an invoice and description on the package )
3- A third package in Canada, also stuck in customs with a generic request “more documentation needed”.
What was the famous “EORI code” for ? Wasn’t it supposed to streamline and speed up these procedures ?
What’s the point of making the necessary documentation clearly visible on the packages if in the end customs put up roadblocks ?

·1 week agoThe eori code is just your tax code or your VAT number with IT in front, how could it ever help streamline procedures in a foreign country?
The fact that the documentation is visible does not automatically mean that it is complete.
