Shipment with tracking stalled and a question about insurance for used items
Hello everyone,
I should mention that I use Ebay to sell used items (mostly old consoles and video games).
At the moment I have a package with tracking stuck in transit from the postal operating center in the city of origin since January 5th; the shipment was purchased through Ebay, so Packlink, and the service is Postedeliveryweb 1.
I contacted Poste and Packlink; for Poste it is strange that the tracking is stuck, but they urged me to contact Packlink to open a claim. Packlink, instead, replied with the following message:
"We inform you that, due to the high volume of shipments across the entire national and international network, issues or delays may occur in pickups and deliveries. Poste Italiane is putting in place all necessary measures to limit the impact on its customers.
At the explicit direction of the Poste Italiane Group, it will be possible to give instructions only in the case of open storage and to start an investigation procedure for possible loss from the Complaints section of our contact form only and exclusively starting from 14 calendar days from the pickup date>.
Under no circumstances will assistance requests received before that deadline be considered, and never beyond 30 calendar days from the pickup date."
Obviously, for me filing a claim at this stage seems premature, but wanting to know why the tracking is stuck in the city of origin for a shipping service that should be one of Poste Italiane's fastest seems legitimate.
Meanwhile the buyer is already pressing about delivery; I don't know if I'll be able to agree with him to wait a few days (I've already offered to refund him the shipping cost). Since more than the money lost (a €50 game), what would bother me would be getting negative feedback for something that isn't my fault.
Basically I would have to refund him the full amount and wait for the shipment to be declared lost; it could also happen that the shipment unblocks, the buyer could still receive the package, even if late, and I would have to rely on his good faith to get the payment back.
A mess, basically. And if the package is then declared lost? What happens? How is the value established? How do you prove the value of a vintage item without any receipt?
Thanks in advance to everyone who will reply.

·3 years agoUnder normal conditions what Sika said is correct, but there is a promotion on Packlink that includes insurance. There are many excluded items, check. For the value, the eBay transaction is what counts.
All shipments made with the eBay Shipping Manager include free coverage that covers the value of the goods up to a maximum amount of €75 unless you are shipping goods included in the list of Prohibited / Uninsurable Items.

·3 years agoUnfortunately, nothing: if the package wasn’t insured at the time of shipping, you won’t be able to claim the item’s intrinsic value from anyone.
So you’ll have to refund the buyer and end up losing the value of the item and the shipping cost financially.
Sad to say, but that’s the risk of online sales, especially international sales, where the shipper provides no guaranteed delivery time.
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoIn fact, the package was insured at the time of shipping with packlink, I was wondering how to provide a valid purchase receipt from the last 60 days for an item that has been used for years

The "receipt" that certifies the value of the package is the transaction made now on eBay.
