Shipping magazines in the United States
Hello! I am a private seller. I’ve been asked to ship a couple of magazines to Miami (United States) worth about €20. I’ll be shipping with Poste Italiane. Are there any customs duties?
Do I need to issue an invoice? Unfortunately, I can’t get in touch with the Customs Office, and even the Post Office itself can’t give a satisfactory answer.
Thank you very much.

From what I understand, if you enable the auction for international sales and therefore for the USA, the buyer should already pay the relevant import costs to eBay.
If they have paid these costs, you can tell by looking at the order details.
I took a quick look, but it doesn’t seem like there are any special exemptions as far as magazines are concerned.
In any case, you need to fill out form CN23; even better, go to the post office with the form already printed and filled out.
If you’re selling on eBay, you must declare the purchase value corresponding to the order number visible in the eBay details, and it’s even better if you print the order details and include them in the package because the postal operator will ask you why you are shipping to the USA and, if it’s for sales purposes, will ask you for proof of the sale.
The CN23 form is this one: https://www.poste.it/CN-23.pdf
Kind regards.

·3 years agoCustoms duties would be the buyer's responsibility, but in this case there aren't any (value under 150 euros).
You need to provide the necessary customs documentation, and an invoice is also required (a proforma invoice for private sellers). Check the postal service website or Paclink's, you'll find all the document forms.

·3 years agoHello,
customs duties are not your responsibility but the buyer's.
There is no need to contact customs, but simply to get assistance from a postal clerk to ask them for the required documents.
Kind regards.
