OP5 months agoOk, I checked and understood that the 12% I had set for the sponsorship is calculated on the total value! (total income: PRICE of the item + Shipping Costs) and not on the REAL value of the item. I don't understand why a sales percentage is applied to shipping costs. I have to pay the shipping upfront, which I’ll recover later. So why is money deducted from there? I didn’t understand that. The sponsorship should be based on the declared VALUE of the item, that is, what it is worth and what I declare when I list it for sale, and NOT on shipping costs. Otherwise I don’t recover the shipping money. In this way my item is worth less than what I declared. This is my opinion, but I think the percentage is applied incorrectly this way. Thanks for your attention.

·5 months agoIf that were the case, it would be an invitation to be sneaky. You’d just have to set the item price very low with high shipping costs.

The reasons are basically 2
1) There are sellers who, to encourage sales, offer free shipping, so they also pay sponsorship on shipping costs.
2) A seller might pay 6 euros for shipping but charge 12, 16, 20 euros for it, or even put the item up for 1 euro by loading the item’s cost onto the shipping charges.
In this hypothetical situation, if ebay did not calculate shipping costs as well, the (clever) seller would pay little or nothing on sponsorship and the selling commission.
So we must THANK the clever ones of the country......
Anyway, you can easily add a markup to the shipping costs to cover shipping and packaging costs, sponsorship fees and sales commissions.
