Good morning everyone, I want to tell you what happened to me just these days. I’m selling a used camera lens, old but in excellent condition. I book the shipment, but for three days nobody comes to pick up the package, after which I book another shipment to send it. In the meantime the buyer keeps pressing me and tries to get me to ship outside of eBay, but I don’t fall for it. For a week after receiving it, the buyer doesn’t get in touch with me, I even leave positive feedback, then this person contacts me and says the item got damp and there are fungus spots. Then they disappear for another three days and send me some photos that are not of my lens, with lenses completely covered in fungus and scratched (mine was perfect). I refuse to accept the return. eBay decides to fully refund the buyer and doesn’t even reimburse me for the second shipment, with some excuse.

OP1 year agoIf eBay wants to be all cool and refund people even in extreme cases like these, why doesn’t it put up the money itself, since in transactions it always takes several euros? eBay guarantee my ass, that’s a scam for sellers!

·1 year agoHow do I know it wasn’t the seller who sent the buyer a different lens instead of the one described in the listing?
Or does the seller think he can protect himself simply by adding the clause "NO RETURNS ACCEPTED"?
Unfortunately, distance selling is not risk-free....
Kind regards.

OP1 year agoI don't agree with you at all, from the photos the buyer sent me it was clear that the item wasn't mine but another one, was I supposed to accept a return of an item different from the one I sent? Madness!
also we're talking about a private seller selling a used item these guarantees are for companies and new items.

·1 year agoIf the item you received is not
as described in the listing, or if it arrived faulty or damaged, you can return it even if the seller’s return policy says they do not accept returns.
Crazy!
also, we’re talking about a private seller selling a used item; these guarantees are for businesses and new items.
Apparently not, this is what eBay’s rules say, just read them.

·1 year agoI refuse to accept the return
The mistake was this, as you probably know on eBay if the buyer claims that the item received does not match the description, refusing the return is impossible. In fact, it's best to make sure you get the item back within the time set by eBay; otherwise the buyer gets refunded without being required to return it.
Making them return it, on the other hand, can sometimes be useful, because the "dishonest in a different way" person gives up and keeps the item (the one that matches the description).

OP1 year agoI also specify that the buyer had zero feedback

OP1 year agoIt also specifies that I had included in the listing the fact that returns were not accepted
