So Poste Italiane creating a replacement service for international registered mail up to 1 kg starting January 1, 2026 sounds plausible to me.
Hopefully they will also change the CN22 and CN23, which are rather inconvenient to fill out clearly and legibly.
In any case, domestic and international registered mail was created as a service for sending letters and documents, not for shipping items (goods).
We will see how things develop.

OP9 months agohello for more than 20 years products that are not documents have been sent by international registered mail --- before for a few years there was a service for the Europe area called quick pack or something similar, cheap - but with prices always higher than the cost of an international registered letter -- then the service disappeared -- so as an economical shipment international registered mail was used for abroad since all the shipping services for abroad of Italian Post are the most expensive in Europe -- regards

·9 months agoSince (exactly) August, it's no longer possible to send merchandise to the States via registered mail.
That is, since U.S. incoming goods have been subject to additional duties.
To be honest, it's a "return to origins": Raccomandata was born as a postal service for letters and documents and only in recent years (thanks to e-commerce) has it "tolerated" (the quotation marks are a must) the sending of records, CDs, merchandise, pasta, wheels of cheese, etc.
A bit like "Piego di libri", which in many offices is also tolerated as a generic parcel service for sending anything at all (to be honest, the number of offices that check the contents more carefully is increasing: probably the folks "up top" have decided to shut off the leaking taps...).
