A user asked me for a return/refund...
Hello everyone,
so he asked me for a return because the PC doesn't work properly, namely it overheats and the dreaded blue screen appears (at my place it worked, okay, transport and a thousand other things can happen).
So I start the return procedure.
The user writes to me and lets me know that before returning it he tries to "fix" it; now, that’s fair enough, but now that I know about it can I refuse the return and the refund since the item has been tampered with?

·3 years agoThere’s no way to refuse a return for non-conformity without eBay’s help.
And anyway it doesn’t work the way the buyer wants to do it, trying to repair it (maybe causing damage) and then if he can’t fix it starting the return.......
So you can do 2 things:
A) You warn the buyer NOT TO TOUCH IT and send it back exactly as he received it
B) You let the buyer do all his tests and maybe if he fixes it it ends there, if he doesn’t fix it he’ll open a non-conformity return case and at that point you’ll have to contact eBay right away to point out that the notebook was tampered with by him, with an admission by email.

·3 years agoKeep the messages where the user writes to you that before returning it they try to "Repair it". If they wanted a return, they should have followed the return procedure.
The buyer may be acting in good faith and try to repair it without asking you anything, or maybe later they'll ask you to cover the repair costs, who knows what's going on in their head... most people have never read even the smallest bit of eBay rules and don't know that tampering with the item means losing eBay's warranty.
You can refuse the return and the refund since the item has been tampered with, but if the user repairs it and you think it's fair to give them a small refund, maybe the shipping costs you would have incurred for the return. In short, judge for yourself based on how the situation unfolds.

·3 years agoOf course you can... but you can't do it by yourself, you have to ask for help from ebay support.
