user blocked me
Good morning,
I wrote to a seller in France about a kneeler, asking for more information. The user blocked me, why?
I wrote very politely, I tried to make an offer for the item and yet nothing, he excluded me from the sale.
My message:
"Good morning Sir, I would like to offer you 60 euros because the item needs restoring, it seems to me that work has already been done with different woods (that is why two different colors can be seen). What kind of wood is it?
I see several woodworm holes, so we need to understand whether the wood is crumbling or whether it can be treated. Above the cushion with the screw it would be better not to glue it if a full restoration has to be done.
If you don't mind, I would appreciate more information, also because at this point the seat and armrests need to be redone, given that the old covering has broken.
I see that you do not accept returns of the item? I saw that it would cost 50 euros to have it shipped to Italy, so I would like to know more before making any further negotiations and finding a middle ground with you.
Thank you"
Is there a way to have a conversation with the seller?
Thanks.
Luigi

That said, not all sellers on eBay are able to answer the various questions asked by users.
Either because they don't feel like it, don't have the time or the ability, or because they don't know all the details of an item, or because they don't want to deal with potentially complicated buying and selling.
On the other hand, if you talk about a return before you've even bought anything, the seller gets the shivers at the thought of having to lose 50 euros for the outgoing shipment and 50 for the return shipping label, plus any transport issues, maybe receiving an item that's even more damaged than when it was sent.
Keep in mind that the return label from Italy to France would probably cost much more than 50 euros, since theirs are discounted rates valid only in their own territory.
From the link you provided, it looks like the item was sold, so the buyer block issue has been overcome.
The user block applies only to the account you interacted with the seller from.
No one is stopping you from using another account of yours or a friend's / family member's to buy from this seller.
If the seller doesn't reply to you and even blocks you, I advise you to let it go and focus on other items from other sellers.
Best regards.

·2 years agoWho knows why....... personally, while I was at it, I would have asked how many woodworm there were and how old it was.....
and since he's a professional seller with over 6000 items sold, he probably knows how to judge who to block or not.....

OP2 years agoAnyone who won’t accept a return is just trying to scam you, I’m a seller too with 100% feedback and I’ve never had any of these problems and I’ve never blocked anyone.
Spending 150 euros on an item full of woodworm, with screws sticking out of the wood, a damaged seat and armrests., and claiming it’s in good condition is a scam.
By law European regulations state that a seller must repair or replace the product, or provide a full or partial refund if the goods purchased turn out to be defective or different from what was advertised.
Now I understand why many people turn to Amazon or other e-commerce sites

·2 years agoOnly private sellers can refuse a return, and only in the case of a change of mind by the buyer.
In distance selling, no seller can refuse a return if the item does not match what was promised in the listing.
However, the post refers to another issue. If, from the listing itself, you think that the item, given its condition, is priced too high, there’s no point putting on such a pantomime and then complaining because you get blocked.

...said by a user who with this account has 2 sales (with no feedback) and all the other feedback was received as a buyer (= easy to have 100%) ...... I’ll leave everyone free to draw their own conclusions ....
"Spending 150 euros on an item full of woodworm, with screws sticking out of the wood, a damaged seat and armrest, and claiming it’s in good condition is a scam."
no one is forcing you to buy from that seller......who in any case solved the problem at the root.....
"By law the European regulations establish that a seller must repair or replace the product, or grant a full or partial refund if the goods purchased turn out to be defective or different from those advertised. "
that has nothing to do with the original question of the post: so you are totally off topic, and in any case just read the eBay rules to get the information you need on how to behave in these cases.
to finish, I reiterate what I said earlier: the seller (.... in this case also an expert.....) can quite happily exclude you from their listings (see eBay rules as always......) , all regardless of the reason..... evidently he judged that the questions were more aimed at "haggling" and driving the price down than anything else...... maybe for the shipping you would then also have asked for the courier "Cheapstake Express" .....

If the item isn't as described, any seller is obligated to accept the return, so there's no scam; on the contrary, it's maximum protection from eBay
Spending 150 euros on an item full of woodworms, with screws sticking out of the wood, a damaged seat and armrests, and claiming it's in good condition is a scam.
No one forces you to buy, and in fact you didn't buy it, so talking about a scam is at the very least a stretch.
By law, European regulations state that a seller must repair or replace the product, or grant a full or partial refund if the goods purchased turn out to be defective or different from what was advertised.
Are you worried about returning or repairing before even buying?
Now I understand why many turn to Amazon or other e-commerce sites
Why don't you do the same? Maybe because you didn't find what you wanted at the price you wanted?

·2 years agoThe option not to accept a return is only possible for private sellers.
However, eBay offers returns for non-conformity, so on eBay (regarding buyer protection) from this point of view the use of the term scam can be ruled out.
You asked the seller legitimate questions, most likely in a polite and calm tone, and you got blocked.
These are things that can happen; in my opinion it’s not worth stubbornly dwelling on an issue that has in any case already been resolved with the sale of the item.
It’s fair to ask questions, it’s courteous to answer, and blocking a user is a feature offered by eBay that the seller chose to use.
Don’t spend too much time on it, turn the page and look elsewhere.
Best regards.

If it can already be seen from the photos what’s the point of bombarding the seller with questions? 🙄
This forum is becoming more and more a source of candidates for the blacklist: keep posting, people, keep posting.... 😂

·2 years agoI think the seller was right to block you... something I do too when people are already talking about returns even before buying...
Anyway, if they blocked you, there’s nothing more you can do.
Best of luck.
