Sale of product keys: why are they being marked as counterfeit?
Good morning,
I've been selling product keys these days. Mostly antivirus through the official supplier, and actually even if sales are slow, everything's fine. Then I tried buying Microsoft licenses and reselling them, and I received a notice from eBay saying that the item was counterfeit and therefore removed.
The product keys are valid, they're from a trusted supplier (in short, the ones I've used for myself worked), and no user has complained, apart from the fact that I've taken responsibility for refunds and replacements with support. So, what happened? I didn't quite understand why this type of sale isn't allowed, the fact that personally one can't verify the validity of a key until it's installed, giving the user the benefit of the doubt?
Thank you

What is not clear in our replies?
I’ll try with the help / support of graphic images
To me this definitely looks like a PROFESSIONALLY looking SHOP
This is a professional seller who can sell this type of products
This instead is a private seller who is not authorized and cannot sell this type of products.
I do not use anti-anxiety meds and I am not anxious.
Simply, I and other users pointed out to you that you cannot do it.
If you have already received a report for counterfeit goods and if you receive other similar reports for selling virtual goods, you risk having your eBay account suspended temporarily or permanently.
Here you can read the part of the rules that concerns you:
https://www.ebay.it/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/regole-sugli-oggetti-consegnati-formato-digitale?id=4289
quote: Among the digital delivery items not allowed are included:
Software keys that the seller is not authorized to sell
Kind regards.

If you are a private seller you are not obliged to offer a return and you are not required to offer any warranty, so it is pointless to say "verbally" that you take responsibility for a refund if your sales contract does not provide for it, except up to 30 days from purchase as established by eBay rules.
The product keys may work initially for a more or less short period and then stop working.
When very low prices are seen (to say nothing of rock-bottom prices), it is almost certainly a matter of volume licenses that have leaked out of company xyz and that in fact cost the seller NOTHING because they can be used on many computers where everything apparently runs smoothly.
But volume licenses have a predefined number and if the company paid for 1000 licenses and Microsoft realizes that the code has leaked and these are installed on 10,000 computers, then it freezes them, making them invalid.
Volume licenses are also time-limited depending on the contracts made they can last 1 year or more.
So the buyer could end up with licenses that expire after 2 months and still would not receive any kind of after-sales support because they bought from a private seller, effectively finding themselves having been scammed.
Kind regards.

·3 years ago1. ......... illegal sales by private individuals are not allowed, unauthorized sellers who cannot have the rights to sell those products.
2. The report on the Ve.Ro. program can only be made by those who actually have the rights, so the manufacturer or one of the sellers legally authorized to sell it (who got fed up with your unfair competition).

·3 years agoGood morning...
well... really, do you even wonder why ebay closes your listings?
Do you know that if you are not a professional seller and you are not authorized by ebay itself to sell digital items, you are considered an unauthorized seller... and you are even committing a crime?
https://www.ebay.it/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/regole-sugli-oggetti-consegnati-formato-digitale?id=4289&st=3&pos=1&query=Regole%20sugli%20oggetti%20consegnati%20in%20formato%20digitale&intent=digitali&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1191
But recklessness is truly running rampant... so much for benefiting the user!!!
Have a good day.
