·3 months agoI'm also noticing a drastic drop in sales lately; just this morning I contacted support and they gave me some tips on how to improve the listings a bit, but I'm not very optimistic!
Lately, all these videos of auction sales of Pokémon cards or similar stuff that you see when opening the app really annoy me. For me, in the long run they are counterproductive for us eBay sellers; they steer buyers toward other platforms.

OP3 months agoyeah, this says a lot about the fact that they’d rather get paid to redirect people to external sites than advertise our products

·3 months agoIn my case, selling low-value items, I’m shutting down the business because of the ill-considered decision by Poste Italiane to eliminate first-class mail. I made an attempt to use ordinary mail with a long warning for buyers, which apparently no one reads, and I’m being hit with claims, since Poste Italiane are shameful and deliver ordinary mail even after more than 20/25 days (!). I’m switching to discounted registered mail, but I imagine it will be hard to sell anything with shipping costs like that. eBay’s fees, including on shipping, with VAT that I can’t recover because I’m on a flat-rate scheme, plus the 35 cents per transaction, don’t help. Over the next month I’ll assess whether it’s worth keeping the shop open, at least during this phase of business closure

·3 months agoBy mistake I looked at another seller’s listing, which doesn’t offer your small electronic components. Ordinary ones are risky for many reasons, including the extreme slowness of delivery. Switch to standard registered mail, specifying the security offered to the buyer, or add a few extra small transistors in the listing and see the buyers’ response. It’s not always just a matter of price. People may also like how you describe the small items with a few more words. In addition, you could catch the attention of vintage lovers on a one-off basis. Thermionic valves, for example, are much sought after. Just one can make up for several standard sales. I had two of them stored in the family. Sold an hour after being posted on ebay..

·3 months agoThe problem with sales, not just on this site but on all marketplaces, is the ruthless competition within the category. Too many sellers offer the same goods, eventually collapsing demand. You're right to close the shop if it's not making any money. And, as much as possible, try offering different items, maybe more niche ones. You also sell a brand of hiking backpacks from Bolzano that have been made since the late 1800s. They’re super durable and distinctive. Of course, if I’m looking for backpacks and 3,000 of every kind come up, even crappy ones or ones made in Singapore, the average buyer gets overwhelmed and ends up not buying anything at all. Better to remove the items everyone has. You urgently need to weed things out and replace them by looking at what others are missing to stand out. Best regards.

OP3 months agoAside from this unfortunate period, but on other platforms without naming names things keep ticking along, here you can't get anything done, as you say I should remove all the articles we have, then😀

·3 months agoSo that was the seller I had mistaken for the first poster! And besides deuter backpacks, there are also Italian Dolomite boots. Mine is not fake advertising disguised as a reply. It’s just that when I used to go trekking in South Tyrol I had Dolomites on my feet, and on the mountain trails the local hikers often came down with backpacks bearing the logo of the Bolzano company. But where have all the mountain lovers gone now? Maybe those were not-so-distant but different times. One day, as a fan of old comics, I asked a seller here on eBay whether his Topolino Almanac contained an old story. A few days later he replied: it does not contain it. I was a bit disappointed, but then I thought that for many reasons everything here seems to have become unnecessary. And very little is really bought or sold.
