Private seller with multiple accounts
Summary: The discussion concerns the issue of a private seller using multiple accounts. mocer-75 initially introduces the topic, and heavenwelkin responds by showing interest and requesting further details. The conversation continues without any additional specific details recorded in the content provided.
Hello and happy holidays.
Unfortunately, I ran into a private seller with multiple accounts.
He sells software and in his listings he puts photos showing a nice box, basically a nice complete bundle that for collectors like me can be interesting.
But after I went ahead with the purchase, the seller sends a message saying that he doesn’t ship what’s in the photo but simply some sleeves intended for OEM customers.
This seller has already collected several negative feedback ratings because of his modus operandi. Last night I bought a piece of software from another seller, different nickname, different image, different listings, the only thing in common being that the listings showed the same trick as the first one. So much so that, after the purchase, I receive the exact same message.
Is there a way to report this kind of dishonest behavior to eBay? Can a private seller on this platform use multiple accounts to sell the same category of products?
Thanks

·1 year agoIt’s the usual strategies of sellers who are rather dishonestly counting on buyers’ laziness.
They send a message that not everyone reads and not everyone understands.
Then he evidently knows how to handle buyers, who in the end are convinced to keep the copied DVD with the digital license instead of the package with the stickers and the original Microsoft DVD as shown in the photo.
Considering that he deliberately does this with all sales, the neutral feedback seems few to me, and evidently he’s good at avoiding negative ones, which are the ones that lower the score and then make the algorithm pay attention to the seller.

At this link you can report a seller
https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/resolving-issues-sellers/segnala-un-problema-con-un-venditore?id=4022
As for the possible purchase you made, if you don't intend to pay for it, try contacting ebay support and explain the problem so maybe you can avoid being reported as a non-paying bidder.
Then also use support to report this seller.

OP1 year agoAs far as the order is concerned, I had already gone ahead and paid for it (I pay immediately when I buy something). At that point the seller sends the prewritten message:
"Hi!
Before proceeding with the purchase I’d like to clarify a few things.
I am a Microsoft IT professional with a regular Microsoft subscription.
X is a RETAIL license, meaning full and NO EXPIRY.
The purchase does not include the original packaging or the Microsoft-branded DVD, since it was purchased online from Microsoft (ESD)
If you buy it, I’ll send you the DVD with the corresponding serial number by post.
I want to point out that the software can be used as many times as you want since it is a RETAIL license, but obviously it must not be used on more than three computers at the same time.
If you’re interested, you can proceed with the purchase.
See my feedback
Let me know..."
I realized it because a message this pompous is not something you normally receive. As for canceling the order, I informed the seller and he went ahead with the cancellation. The problem is one of basic honesty. He does it deliberately, as you can see from the attached image.
I reported him anyway, let’s see if anything happens.
