I'm selling a used, working internal hard drive, and after 30 days the buyer wants a refund.

Good morning, I am a private seller, I am putting up a used Internal Hard Drive for sale, I am attaching photos and a screenshot of a hardware test showing that it is working.

The buyer receives the package, uses the part for 1 month, yesterday he contacts me saying that it has stopped working.

are there terms for a refund? he has not left feedback and is threatening to leave negative feedback.

if it falls within eBay’s time limits (as indicated by the other users), they could open an eBay dispute, and in any case they could still open it later through the payment method used;

the threat of negative feedback seems to me to be a clear coercive intimidation to report to eBay support in case of a dispute: it will serve little purpose, but it’s still better to report it....

Unfortunately, photos or videos as proof before shipping the item have no value on eBay.

The item may have broken during use, or the buyer simply no longer needs the item and is making up an excuse that it broke.
Is there a time limit for a refund?
As far as eBay is concerned, there are 30 days, just as sika700 told you.
But if the buyer gets annoyed and only leaves you negative feedback, no big deal because you can have it removed by telling support that the buyer used the feedback extortionately.

If things stay like this, somehow you’ll manage........

The problem is that the buyer could decide to open a dispute with PayPal (if they paid with PayPal) or ask for a chargeback on a credit card payment, so we can’t give you mathematical certainty that things will end positively.

Try to keep a cordial and friendly contact with the buyer while the 30 eBay days pass, and then point out that as a private seller you are not responsible for the item breaking after the purchase; on the other hand, the buyer was aware that they had bought a used item, so without warranty.

If they threaten to leave negative feedback, let them do it and don’t get scared.
The important thing is that the conversation where the buyer threatens you took place through eBay messaging and not on WhatsApp.
So that you have proof of this feedback threat.

Good morning,

if the official request is within the next 30 days from delivery, there are grounds for a return.

If it’s more than 30 days, you can refuse... with the consequences of the case...
