·1 week agoFrom what I read, for the buyer it should be transparent, since they will only be shown the final cost including everything.
Before, the seller also included eBay fees in the final cost, now eBay will do it directly.
Market rules will determine whether sellers will have the opportunity to absorb the margin or whether they will have to discount prices by the old fees.

The biggest unknown remains shipping... with payment postponed until delivery, using untracked mail will be a jungle!

·1 week agoexactly! I buy and sell books even for just a few € with ordinary book mail, now it won’t be possible anymore! assuming it’s allowed and they don’t block you outright

·1 week ago · Editedreading the new rules in force from September 1, it’s hard to say what is most important, just to give a few examples:
fee paid by buyers and no longer by sellers, with all that that implies...... I agree that, at least at the beginning, it’s hard for someone who has sale listings as a private seller, especially if they have a lot of them, to change the prices.....
Ebay balance: the money will be credited to the private seller AFTER the order is marked as delivered or completed (the latter, exactly what Ebay means by "completed" is to be understood), so there will definitely be more days before the credit..... moreover, the money will remain in the Ebay balance (and will no longer automatically go to the seller’s linked checking account) and can be accumulated to, as you mentioned, pay for shipping or purchases, or it can eventually be transferred to the linked account by the seller, who will decide if and when to transfer it;
note that if the seller receives the money after the item is marked as delivered, in practice untracked shipments will disappear...... (to be honest, even before it was better to avoid them.....)
I’ll just limit myself to these, then reading here and there, there are other things, maybe less interesting but quite important...

OP1 week agoin my opinion, the untracked ones should go in completed. after a certain amount of time from the expected delivery date, if no one complains, it becomes completed.

OP1 week agobut I don't find it written that you'll have to wait for delivery, I find this written: "For new private sellers who could be subject to transaction-level holds, we are introducing clear criteria to determine when they can receive the funds within 48 hours of payment from the buyer. As your sales history builds and once these criteria are met, you will generally receive payments faster. You can track your progress against these criteria in the Payments tab of Seller Hub or in My eBay." ... it would seem that once you're deemed reliable you get the money quickly.

·1 week agoin the email sent by Ebay in recent days it was literally written:
"We are changing the ways in which funds from sales are made available. To help ensure transaction security, funds will now be made available to private sellers after confirmation that the order has been delivered or completed, depending on the delivery method used, unless the payment is temporarily held for another reason. Some private sellers may receive their funds more quickly if they meet the applicable criteria, including those relating to their sales and dispute history."
years ago right here on the forum I had written that Ebay makes the pots, but then, not infrequently, it forgets to make the lids...... as a result, with every change in rules, there follows a more or less long period of "settling in" where Ebay gradually fine-tunes things that aren’t clear (and it doesn’t always manage to clarify them all..... )
so (as usual I add ....) we’ll see in about a month what it actually does in the short term and what it will then "adjust" in the future .....

·1 week agobut even if someone doesn't complain and doesn't open a dispute..eBay after a few days sends the buyer an email saying "has the order arrived?" if they click "no", eBay automatically starts a report with a dispute, without tracking what happens? a normal person waits and then maybe closes the dispute - eBay, if you don't have tracking, immediate refund and goodbye. If they don't also offer an integrated shipping option like Vinted for a few € (starting at €2.29 instead of €5.11 like they have now with packlink) goodbye! they'll lose sooooo many sales...for a few € but still...

it could be, but I see it more as a solution (pretty risky for the seller anyway......) that could be kept only for professional sellers who ship lots of low-value items ;
another solution could be for eBay to push to offer, through the shipping manager (so currently through its partner Packlink), relatively competitive prices for very cheap items (as happens on other platforms)
anyway, we'll see....... maybe not right away from September 1......

·1 week agoI agree, they’ll need to explain clearly and plainly what they mean by "completed order", otherwise it’ll just create confusion.

OP1 week agoforgotten, the transaction cost should also go on the buyer and no longer on the seller (though people lowering prices accordingly, I doubt it).
