No Andrea, non è andata come speravamo.

I am a little surprise. Why didn't you suggest me this solution the first time that I wrote to you?? Every your answer denotes scarce desire to cooperate and to get to the bottom of the problem. Second one I think that you underestimate the intelligence of the others... such as Chinese or everyone that consult your data base and mint/make copies of rare coins with your holder. I had some suspects just before to have in my hand the holder, basing on simple evident facts (kind of seller, way of selling, similarity between rare sold coins in so short time) as I reported to you. But where you live? I can't believe that you don't arrive at the same conclusion. Finally I understand that you (your company) haven't any interest to resolve this problem. Regards.

Jan 11, 2012 11:48:03 AM, mspiegel@ngccoin.com wrote:

I appreciate your answer, BUT is the same that the seller has written in his auction, OBVIOUSLY.

For this reason I had contacted you before receiving the holder with the coin and, in second time, after your convinced answer, have sent the intact holder to the most important official Italian appraisal as a legally third part with the order to open the slub. He had taken some pictures of the different steps. This is the ONLY way to establish if the coin is authentic. You certanly know how many false NGC and PSGC holder have been put recently on the market. It's sufficient to read on line the multiple articles about this argument.

Personally I think that in this way your company will not arrive at the end of this story and subsequently will loss of credibility.

I wrote to you more one month ago advancing some suspects on a your coin, that you find described below. After 1 month the coin arrived in Italy and I consigned it to one of the most important Italian official coin appraisal (dr. Emilio Tevere) that has opened the slub to study the coin in object.

First of all it mesures 18,85 mm of diameter and NOT 19,5 mm. Second one it is a fake (a gold fake).

As I wrote to you the (Chinese?) seller from California is probably a fake-seller, because he has sold 3 similar coins, with this, in a short period of time.

NGC cert numbers are based around the invoice numbers with the final three digits being the coin’s number on the invoice. For this group of coins, 357031 is a submission of a number of 1863T 10 Lire. Three different sizes were struck of the 1863T 10 Lire: 18.5mm, 19mm, and 19.5mm.
Hi,

I have bought from an ebay seller from California a gold coin: 10 Lire 1863 T Vittorio Emanuele III, verified from you with a box reporting serial number 357031-043. The same seller had sold 1 month and 2 month before 2 similar gold coins, always with your box reporting the first the serial number 357031-083 and the second 357031-042.

According your appraisal all coins result to have a diameter of 19,5 mm . Isn't a little strange? This is a very rare coin (R3). Are they a Chinese clonation?

Please, let me know, I am interested in a your opinion.

Best regards.

"I would think NGC would sincerely want to get to the bottom of this forgery infestating the marketplace especially if in fact the seller had sold at least two other similar and likely fake coins before you purchased this one.

It is disengenuous of NGC to claim that it isn't their responsibility now that the coin is outside of their holder. As before removal pictures of the coin inside the slab are available (please save them and including screen shots of the listing to your hard drive) for their review. It isn't really an excuse to believe the coin outside of the holder would be any different than what is inside since the die markers and corrosion/copper spotting is so evident. In fact, it may even help NGC to twin such die markers if they are repeating on the false die with other submitted and imaged NGC coins of this particular issue.

Since one of Italy's top numismatic experts has confirmed it to be a forgery, it appears to be a very dangerous one as other buyers have been duped. For NGC to pull the wool over their own eyes is a disgrace - especially when trust is placed on the coin in the slab to be authentic without any need for it to be removed and analyzed (again - after what NGC should have done in the first place to properly out this as a forgery).

What we see here is incompetency and bumbling over a mistake made by NGC that they have failed to fess up to as one of their own failures to detect and authenticate".

too_toot

Solo 'na curiosità: Stai ancora in machina o sei pure riuscito a veni' fori? ih ih
