Return tracking not available

I’m writing to ask for assistance with a return issue related to an order I placed in August from Japan.

When the package arrived in my country, I was informed by customs that I had to pay an import tax of 20%. I decided not to accept the delivery, so the parcel was automatically returned to the sender by DHL.

The problem is that I opened the return request through eBay, and now I’m being asked to provide a return tracking number by October 10 to avoid a possible dispute from the seller. Unfortunately, I don’t have a tracking number for the return shipment, as customs could not provide one, and DHL also told me they are unable to issue a tracking reference for a refused delivery.

Could you please advise me on how to proceed in this situation? I want to make sure the case is correctly handled and that the seller is aware the parcel was automatically returned.

Rifiutando l'oggetto hai commesso un grosso errore, hai perso il diritto ad essere rimborsato.

Quando il pacco è arrivato alla dogana ero fuori casa per lavoro, quando
sono rientrato dopo circa 25giorni dalla consegna lo avevano rifiutato in
automatico e rispedito al mittente.
Quindi ho iniziato la procedura di rimborso.
Cosa avrei potuto fare in questo caso? Cosa potrei ancora fare?

Ben poco temo, prova a contattare il venditore.

Il venditore è molto grande (490000 vendite), proverò a contattarlo
sperando nella sua onestà professionale.
