Ho un problema con la community
Summary: The discussion lacks detailed content and only mentions that there is a problem related to the community. No further details are provided about the issue or possible solutions throughout the brief interactions between the participants.
For the past few weeks, about every 24h I have to log in to the forum again; this doesn't happen with classic eBay, though. I tried clearing the cookies but without any results. Have they changed something in the code, or should I try using another browser?

OP1 year agoIn my opinion, it makes sense to strike a balance between security and usability.
It makes me smile that this "enhanced security" is implemented only on the community.ebay domain, what’s the point? What serious damage could it do? We have silent and very quick moderators.
Instead, eBay cookies don’t expire daily, and there you can actually do damage if the account is used, but obviously such a restrictive policy isn’t put in place because it’s clear that having to log in again is an annoyance for the user.

·1 year agoFor some time now, login has been required daily, whereas before sessions lasted much longer.
I consider it an IMPROVED security measure.
That said, I use ublock origin in the browser and I haven't tried it with a browser without ad blocking.
Still on the topic of security, I recommend not storing any automatic passwords in any web browser because it is enough to visit a website, even a trustworthy one, that has been hacked with some malicious script, and they steal all the credentials stored in the browser.
It is true that the credentials are encrypted, but they can be decrypted easily.
There are browser extensions like noscript that prevent these security problems but create problems when browsing the internet and should be configured manually by selecting trusted sites, etc., which is rather frustrating.

·1 year agoWow... do you mean I’ve been at risk for 30 years now? 😄
Kind regards.

·1 year agoThese are the guidelines you can find on the web, even though I don't agree with using a password manager since the internet browser is also a password manager; I don't see why install a dedicated one.
Anyway, using an adblocker on the browser offers a high level of protection against this type of attack.

·1 year agoI confirm: with Chrome, same thing for about 20 days.
Could it depend on the AdBlocker?
I use UBlock (even if it supposedly isn't supported by Chrome anymore... but only because it bothers their banners and YT... 😞 I haven't tried disabling it, also because if I did now I'd know tomorrow whether it works or not... and then there's the "advantage" of cutting 90% of the ads, which more than makes up for the Forum login every 24 hours...

·1 year agoAd blocking is absolutely necessary and the fact that Chrome prevents this choice seems to me to be a questionable measure.
Ad blocking is necessary because:
Ads are invasive and prevent proper use of the content.
Ads are a vehicle for malicious scripts and are therefore a potential security risk.
Ads slow down browsing and make the computer use more battery / power by using more memory and CPU.
Ads consume bandwidth and, if you have a mobile connection, precious gigabytes are used up.
Ads distract and sometimes confuse the user, leading them to click where they shouldn’t.

OP1 year agoOn Firefox I don’t save passwords for security reasons, simply before I didn’t need to log in every 24h, I opened the community and I was already logged in, now though no...
Apparently from cizeta’s reply and yours it seems like it’s intentional though.
Also because on eBay instead I don’t have to log in again every day.

·1 year agoIt happens to me too... if you're the only one using the PC, just save the credentials...
Best regards.

·1 year agoHi both, this keeps happening to me too even though I saved the credentials and “stay signed in” is checked.
In fact, I can’t even log in from Google Chrome anymore.

·1 year agoThe only one I don't use! 😂
On Edge and Firefox, with the saved credentials, I click on the little person icon at the top right, confirm the credentials, and log in.
Honestly, I haven't noticed any other difficulties.
Kind regards.

Bad, really bad!! 😂😂😂
On Edge and Firefox, with the credentials saved, I click on the little guy at the top right, confirm the credentials, and log in.
I don't have the little guy either, that's not fair! 😂😂😂
