      Arrived damaged

Hello, I received a claim for a defective item 30 days after delivery. . In the request there is a photo taken from the web and the description specified that the item was defective (I sell new alloy wheels). I ask for info and more photos but the customer does not respond. After 5 days they turn it into a complaint. I contacted eBay support, who tell me to immediately reach an agreement with the customer with a return (despite no proof of the defect). The buyer magically starts responding and gives me several days with the option of picking up the goods, but every time the courier comes he refuses to hand over the item. In the meantime he tells me that the original boxes were thrown away and that the item has suffered damage (all in the eBay chat). Finally I manage to arrange the pickup and when the goods arrive I see that the damage is quite big, the buyer caused several damages to the item, which is now no longer sellable. Sale price of the wheels €800. I contact eBay to request a partial refund to be sent but it is refused because the customer opened the claim and at that point partial refunds are no longer possible. I suffered damage of almost €500 because I can only sell those wheels as used at a nearly negligible price. Is it normal that eBay only protects buyers? I've been selling for 8 years with hundreds of positive feedbacks and zero negatives Can you recommend something to make eBay understand that it is wrong? With email and the call center I don't resolve anything, they always tell me the same story

New scam by buyers: dispute of payment through the bank, sorry for the rant!!!

One morning I found a purchase from a user with zero feedback who had just signed up, paying for two items about 300.00 euros (they were overpriced because I was waiting for lower offers). I’m used to 0 feedback, but with this one I immediately see he’s a scammer, both because of the fake phone number (a nonexistent Bologna number and a Benevento address) and because of the purchase that made no sense at all, so I contact phone support: the lady tells me that we all started with 0 feedback and blah blah blah, I point out that he entered false details (nonexistent Bologna phone number and Benevento address) but she reassures me saying that, according to their check, the address is correct and advises me to write to the customer, which I do. He replies, also giving me the real mobile number and even writes to me on WhatsApp; still not satisfied, I send an email to customer service explaining everything again (but in writing this time) and once again I’m told they saw the messages, the customer paid, so I have to ship. I accept the situation and after shipping I realize the courier won’t deliver because the address is unknown. I write to him on WhatsApp, work with the courier to get him the box and in the end it gets delivered, all this on September 18. Today the payment is being disputed by the scammer’s bank; basically the customer does not recognize the 300 euro charge on his bank/credit card/PayPal (the reason is not known) and so I have an open dispute with this situation: I was only able to respond to the customer’s bank (it’s the bank that opened the dispute) with the photos of the package tracking that was received. Now HIS bank has 90 days to decide whether to side with me or with his customer; at which point, if they side with the scammer as expected, I can only rely on eBay seller protection hoping they rule in my favor; otherwise, as per the rules, they can take the funds from my balance and I can’t do anything about it. Naturally I both called again and wrote to support: nothing, for them everything is perfectly regular like this, hmm....

10 years of top reliability, nothing to celebrate /Categories for Adults policies, 1-year history

Good evening, this is a sad outburst and a testimony to a terrible experience that lasted almost a year , after 10 years of EBAY top reliability for international CONTINUOUS / Germany etc etc, UK pre Brexit, following the purchase of a lot of sextoys I try to put them up for sale in spring 2025 and the message appears that the account is not authorized and will be automatically if there are the requirements ..... automatically it will never happen ! - I write to seller support about 20 times, they assure me that I have all the requirements ! I try to call Dublin  and to escalate, in the end in December they authorize me for 90 days but only International because as happened on December 10, 2025 the Ebay policies on adult categories were in fact updated  - Today once again they no longer work, it is not possible for me to put other items up for sale, but the listings I have put up, about 200, are still online but it is not possible to add others ..... so take them all down for me ! instead I get the same message that I attach  - In Germany, where I have been TOP for 10 years, they have never authorized me for these categories, but German sellers can sell to us, a cornerstone of Ebay that all sellers have the same opportunities in the world .... I really don't think so ! and yet read this nice page   https://www.ebayinc.com/company/human-rights-policy-statement/ - Indifferent support, responses that make no sense even today 20/02/2026, no explanation why yesterday I could list them and today I can't, only empty prepackaged phrases, relevant departments unreachable by phone who respond by not giving a damn, a wall of rubber  At the moment I am moving from a Premium store to a basic store, then we'll see ... I had trust in ebay, always fair with sellers and customers, unlike other marketplaces, this year I would have wanted to celebrate ten years of ebay ... 8600 items sold ..... I have lost the desire  Best regards to all sellers

Questions about VAT, OSS scheme, flat-rate regime, eBay sales as a professional

I am a professional seller and I am already registered with my VAT number on Ebay. I need to join the European centralized OSS system for VAT reporting because I will very likely exceed 10,000 euros a year.   This “issue” only comes up for sales outside Italy to Europe and not to non-European countries, for which VAT is not declared or paid.   So I will have to increase the selling price of a given item by VAT only in European countries, excluding Italy, right?   I wanted to know whether: Do I need to change my selling prices by adding VAT, or will Ebay itself add the correct VAT depending on the country of residence and charge it to my European customers (not Italian ones, I live in Italy) at the time of payment? For example, if the price of one of my products for sale is 100 and I sell this item in Italy, do I add the 22% myself to the item's price, or will Ebay do it automatically and charge the VAT to the customer? I am under the flat-rate scheme, so in Italy I do not have to pay any VAT. If instead I sell abroad, how does it work with VAT?     In the case of one of my sales to an Italian customer, is VAT also paid by the Italian buyer, since I am resident in Italy, or not? I am resident in Italy and I operate under the flat-rate scheme.   Will the VAT paid by my customers be remitted automatically by Ebay to the tax authorities, or will I have to pay it myself?   Do I need to register for OSS on my own, or is that something Ebay does automatically? I think many people will have asked themselves these same questions.

Shipping to the USA in 2026. What should we use?

Hello, for shipments to the USA, which courier do you use if you currently do them?  In your opinion, if you don't do them, is it still possible to remain registered on eBay.com? Regards and thanks for any reply. Alessandro

Since sponsored ads and promotional campaigns were introduced, we're taking losses

IN THIS LAST PERIOD, SINCE SPONSORED LISTINGS AND AUTOMATIC PROMOTIONAL CAMPAIGNS WERE INTRODUCED, WE ARE SUFFERING HUGE LOSSES. FOR US SELLERS, THE IMPACT HAS BEEN HEAVY. SPONSORED LISTINGS PUSH ORGANIC ONES DOWN. IF YOU DON’T SPONSOR, YOU LOSE VISIBILITY, AND IF YOU SPONSOR, YOU GET EATEN UP. SO IT’S A PAY-TO-PAY SYSTEM THAT I DON’T LIKE, BECAUSE WE STILL PAY FOR LISTINGS WITH A MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION AND THE OLD EBAY STANDARDS HAVE BEEN LOST. MANY ACCEPT HIGH SPONSORSHIP PERCENTAGES JUST TO SELL, COMMISSIONS GO UP AND THE REAL PRICES NO LONGER HAVE A MARKET. WITH THE DISCOUNTS SUGGESTED BY EBAY, THEY DON’T TAKE REAL MARGINS INTO ACCOUNT : COMMISSIONS + SPONSORSHIP + OPERATING COSTS. YOU GET AN ILLUSION OF INCREASED TRAFFIC WITH MORE VIEWS, MORE PROFIT AND ONLY HIGHER COSTS PER SALE. SO AUTOMATIC CAMPAIGNS AND PROMOTIONS ARE AGGRESSIVE FOR US SELLERS AND THEY ARE DESTROYING US

      Customer tax code

Good morning everyone! We have had an eBay store for a year and we have always issued invoices to our customers even though we did not have a tax code and/or VAT number.  But as informed by our accountant a couple of weeks ago, it will no longer be possible to issue invoices even to private users unless their respective tax code is provided. We have requested the same from customers several times, but since they are not obliged to provide it, we receive no response. At the moment we find ourselves with several transactions that we cannot invoice and we are losing an enormous amount of time following up with customers for the information and for the invoicing itself, which in this way can no longer be done automatically at the time of shipping as we did before.  We have written to eBay support but they just say that they cannot provide this kind of information and frankly we do not know how to proceed at this point. In anticipation of help, kind regards Simone

      SHIPPING AND PACKAGING TIME ISSUE

Hello, since today I noticed that all the estimated delivery times for my orders have gotten shorter. The system no longer takes into account the order processing times I had entered (4 business days), has this happened to others too? A posta4 shipment is expected to be delivered in 3 days, even cheap international shipments are shown as being delivered in less than a week!

Italian Post with fake delivery tracking and does not compensate with the paid insurance.

Hello,   As the title says, for a shipment sent with insurance, Poste Italiane / SDA, after opening tickets both by phone and by email, said that the goods had been correctly delivered.   Too bad that the same shipment was sent to a BRT Fermopoint and, to date, it still shows as waiting to be collected by the customer precisely because it never arrived there.   Looking online, in fact, that SDA location seems to have several logistical problems arising, at best, from the fact that postal workers are unable to handle the volume of shipments passing through that logistics center.    I still have some tickets open about the issue and, although it is not a huge loss, I’m annoyed by how Poste handled the matter.   On my side, I’ve put all possible solutions in place to make a complaint since I have a regular subscription with them, so I was asking you if you would have any suggestion for trying to recover the money.   Thanks for the help and have a good day.

      Late shipments and disputes

Good evening, could someone help me? I have several delivery delays and claims for items not received; tracking has often been stuck on December. One of these shipments (I used packlink pro, shipped with poste) shows as being returned on Poste Italiane tracking, while on packlink it shows as delivered. Today, the buyer opens a dispute for item not received; I tried calling Poste italiane and they told me the package is damaged, (which seems very strange to me) and that after just 7 days the package is on its way back, given that the destination never even saw it. I opened a ticket on packlink, I tried contacting ebay (the chat no longer exists and they call you back in 1 minute, after several attempts, it doesn't work). What do you recommend I do? Thanks in advance for your reply Mari
