Package refused with FedEx from UK blocked for return
I bought a pair of shoes from the UK and after a few hours I realized that the size conversion I had done was wrong.
I write asking to cancel and they tell me that it had already started with FedEX and not to worry because they would call it back, but instead the package arrives in Italy and they tell me not to worry and to refuse it.
I refuse the package.
FedEx reissues a new waybill and sends it back.
I live in Piedmont, now the package has been stuck for 10 days in Lonate Pozzolo because a piece of data is missing.
I call support and they tell me I can only write an email to a specific address.
I write explaining that it is a bounced package and that they must have all the data for the return that they had for the inbound customs clearance, also pointing out that they filled out the return note.
I also add my tax code, which is the only detail that might be missing.
The package is still stuck in Lonate, now for almost 15 days
I paid with PayPal, what do you recommend?
Do you know how to unblock this package?

·2 years agoI’d say the seller had already been hedging by saying:
- Let’s try to stop the courier (impossible if they had already picked it up... especially with FedEx)
- Refuse it when it arrives (so the fault is yours because you refused the package).
All you can do now is wait for eBay’s "verdict", and if it’s negative (95% chance), try to sort it out with PayPal.

OP2 years agoThe shipment had customs duties paid by the seller.
The package was refused at the seller’s suggestion: I have messages where they ask me to proceed in this way.
But I don’t think FedEx can keep a package at its discretion: either they send it back to the sender or give it to me, otherwise they have to declare it lost.
The sender was in agreement and aware of all this; they will only withhold the shipping cost (without customs clearance).
The problem is that neither I nor they can get this package moved from Lonate because something is missing.
FedEx call center tells me to write to an email where they replied that they were “looking into it” to understand how to solve it, but the package is still there.

·2 years agoMost likely you paid the customs duties... it’s pretty unlikely the seller paid them for you!
The seller gave you bad advice for you but good for him... meaning that, according to eBay, you’re in the wrong and he can quite easily even refuse to refund you and still be in the right.
So, in any case, the package is the seller’s responsibility and so he’ll be the one who has to go through the hassle of getting it back.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoFirst of all, you arrived pretty late here on the forum, where a series of wrong procedures had already been carried out.
As sika700 also told you, given how things have turned out you risk losing both the item and the money, as the seller is not obliged to issue any refund because you voluntarily refused the package.
Regarding PayPal, you have 180 days to open a claim, so I STRONGLY ADVISE you to stay CALM and leave PayPal as a last resort while waiting for further developments.
I advise you to wait for the package to be returned to the sender and then, if the sender washes their hands of the item you bought, you can try the PayPal route.
With PayPal you have 180 days, so don't burn this option too because of haste or anxiety.
Obviously, with PayPal a lot depends on how you handle it, but in general if you paid for an item the seller must PARTIALLY REFUND you for the cost of the item excluding shipping costs.
They can't keep both the item and the money (in theory)......
So on PayPal you will probably be able to request a partial compensation relating to the cost of the item excluding shipping costs.
Kind regards.

·2 years agoHello,
if the package has been cleared through customs and you then voluntarily refused it by not paying the customs duties, you made a mistake... unfortunately now it will be difficult to get a refund.
If you made a purchase mistake, the correct thing was to receive the package and then return it at your own expense, taking the hit on the import fees.
All you can do is wait and see how the situation develops, or go and pick it up, pay what’s due, and then send it back yourself.
Best regards.

·2 years agoRefusing a package means that if you managed to get a new shipment, someone would have to pay for it.
Either the sender or the recipient must pay to have a package that was refused and returned to the Lonate customs sent out for delivery again.
If instead the package is refused and goes back to the sender, usually there are no additional costs to bear (regarding shipping costs), neither for the sender nor for the recipient.
But these days things are not that simple because you have to strictly follow the protocols, where everyone works in silos and follows their own protocol, and when unexpected things happen it is not always said that you can find a solution when procedural errors are made.
Best regards.

·2 years agoGood morning al404
In today's world, where everything works in silos and there are strict rules and procedures, you have to be careful and strictly follow the protocols.
If you had gotten the size wrong but unfortunately the package had already been picked up by FedEx and had not been recalled and/or could not be recalled, you should have accepted the package and then gone ahead with the return.
By refusing a non-EU package where customs are involved, you risk losing both the item and the money.
If you refused the package, you have to wait for it to go back to the sender, after which you need to arrange with them a new order, fully aware that they may charge you additional costs.
Kind regards.
