Why aren't we selling? :-(

Good morning, I need the community's help!
We are coin and stamp collectors. We inherited some important collections years ago and became passionate about them. On Ebay we have another profile, the first one we opened, where over time we made many interesting purchases at good prices. So we decided to create a new profile to start selling coins and stamps ourselves too. Since we were buyers before sellers, we know well that the average prices on Ebay for these types of products are sometimes much lower than the official catalog prices, so we set prices in line with the Ebay average. We are trying various forms of selling, auction, buy it now with discounts depending on quantities, we have also written phrases like "we're new on Ebay and can't wait to earn your trust!" we have also put up listings with really low prices where we wouldn't have any margin just to attract people...but nothing! NOTHING, NO ONE BUYS ANYTHING HAHAHA! Not even an email asking for information do they send us! Absolute nothing...
Where are we going wrong? I thought of starting to buy something to build up some feedback...but I didn't want to spend more...I honestly wanted to sell. I hope for your help. Thank you!

OP1 year agops: since you’re always so kind as to reply here in the community...but do you really think our photos are our weak point? I could understand, if you still feel like and have time to devote to us, why do you consider them a weak point? Have you compared them with the other photos that are usually there for similar coins or stamps? Perhaps you saw the profile when there wasn’t much for sale yet?
thanks again

Mentore1 year agoBy way of example:
Not all the photos are in focus, there are photos with completely different colors (white balance problems?) enough to make one think that not all the photos correspond to the same coin.
Photos only in envelope
Dark photos and some out of focus
Instead, the stamp photos seem good to me.

OP1 year agoThanks, I’ll change the photos and take better ones.
Yes, silver is difficult to photograph and I had posted various photos with different light/temperature sources but I understand that too many photos create confusion for anyone looking at the listing... thanks for the tip! 🙂
For the divisionali - maybe he doesn’t know because he doesn’t collect - they are hermetically sealed like graded UNC coins and for that reason they are hermetically sealed and have more value. The coins can’t be taken out of the divisionali sleeves, in fact he’ll find them all for sale like that in the sealed envelopes. Anyway, I’ll commit to taking better photos... hoping it helps...
As I said to the other user who replied to me, we are a couple of private individuals and we sell - if we ever manage to sell anything on Ebay - some extra pieces from a private collection, this does not make us dealers.
Having a dozen listings does not turn me into a dealer because otherwise all private users would be dealers. Ours is a passion, not a coin business.
If only we had so many coins to put up for sale to create a professional shop!
Thanks again and best regards

OP1 year agoHello, first of all I’d like to clarify that I explained myself badly since he’s accusing me of being a "tax evader".
We know perfectly well the difference between a private seller and a professional seller.
We have a private profile where we buy all kinds of things, from phone cases to hair dryers to shoes, vinyl records, etc., not just coins.
The coins we bought on EBAY are the ones that were missing from the collection we inherited and that we found here at a good price. The coins we sell instead are from our inherited private collection.
THESE ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS AND WE ARE NOT VIOLATING EBAY RULES IN ANY WAY, RULES WHICH WE CAREFULLY READ BEFORE CREATING THE PROFILE.
It’s important to make this clear because all we need now is to get reported, and then yes, we really won’t sell anymore!
That said, thank you for the advice and I wish you a good day!
Kind regards

Mentore1 year agoI think Mario was referring to Italian laws... not to ebay's rules.
Anyone who sells regularly and in an organized way is by definition a merchant... even if they sell used or inherited items.
Best regards.

OP1 year agoExcuse me, but if I as a private individual sell - if I ever manage to sell something on Ebay - some extra pieces from my private collection, I am not a dealer... then would all private individuals who sell here be dealers, right? If having about ten listings turns me into a dealer then all private users are dealers. Maybe you misunderstood that ours is a passion, not a coin business.
If only I had so many coins that I could start a business! hahaha 🙂
Kind regards

Mentore1 year agoPlease forgive me, but it was not "an accusation" but simply an explanation.
Kind regards.

OP1 year agoDon’t mention it, and thank you for writing to us!
ps to clear up any doubts, I called Ebay directly. I can post as a private individual up to 150 listings a month; if I go over 2000 euros they have to inform the authorities by law, but the annual maximum for sales considered “occasional” is 5000 euros. So my wife and I can sleep easy... if we manage to make 100 euros here it’ll be a miracle!
Best regards

Mentore1 year agoHere’s a tutorial, from a competing platform, with tips on how to photograph coins.

Mentore1 year agoJust to be clear:
The 5,000-euro threshold is nonsense; it applies only to occasional services and, on eBay, it may apply to artists or craftsmen selling their own creations.
The 2,000-euro / 30 transactions thresholds are those of DAC7, which require the platform to report you to the Italian revenue agency (ADE).
eBay's thresholds have no tax value. They are more convenient for eBay given the switch to a professional account with higher selling fees.
The strange thing, in your case, is the continuous and simultaneous buying and selling activity, which could lead them to consider you merchants.

OP1 year agoHello Mario, to finish and close the conversation, which has veered toward a topic that has nothing to do with the question I asked, I would like to tell you that you don’t know us and you’re making assumptions that are worth exactly what they’re worth. There is no continuous and simultaneous buying and selling activity; it’s only something you suspect, and so I would invite you to give advice on that to people who do it, because we don’t need it.
Anyway, to reassure you, if our sales were to explode and we magically started making shameless money, I will make sure to get advice from my accountant.
Please kindly close the matter here and thank you for your interest.

Mentore1 year agoI'll finish by saying that your reasoning is equivalent to saying: "I open a pizzeria, and if people like my pizza, then I'll get everything in order..."
Have a good one!

OP1 year agops: we know very well that it was easier to use the profile where we buy with good feedback but we don't want to use the other profile where we buy, we want two separate profiles for purchases and sales. Thanks

Mentore1 year agoAside from the issue that buying to resell in an organized way falls under the definition of a professional seller, complete with SUAP, VAT number, etc...
I’d try proposing single lots rather than bundles, maybe working more on photographs (I think that’s your weak point) and descriptions.
