Suspected scam with fake tracking
Summary: The discussion addresses the issue of an alleged scam related to a fake shipment tracking, but no additional details or exchanges about the matter are provided in the messages.
Good evening, yesterday unfortunately I bought an iPhone 15 Pro Max from a seller who had no feedback, but I still wanted to buy it, since the transaction was done on eBay and I paid with PayPal in 3 installments, in theory I should be “covered by buyer protection. Let me explain: the seller, an hour after the purchase, marked the item as shipped and I asked how he had shipped it, he replied that he had gone to the post office and initially gave me a fake postal tracking code, I’ll put it here so you can check it too 5P65D61190841, and that’s when the first doubts started. Then last night he puts in a tracking code, which wasn’t there before, and InPost tracking number appears
804011758536016034216870, and the funny thing is that this tracking, even though it’s not mine, says the order was taken in charge on 23/05 and shipped on 25/05, but I placed the order yesterday, 26/05, so he clearly entered a fake tracking number. What can I do now, given that it’s 100% a scam and this order will never arrive, let alone do I want to wait for the expected delivery date since the tracking isn’t mine but fake? Is it possible to speed things up with eBay because we’re talking about a fairly important amount of money and I don’t want to lose it. Thank you very much

OP1 year agoAlso, I already pointed it out to the seller and he says he’ll change the tracking etc. but honestly, after 2 fake codes I’m tired, it’s clearly a scam. If I contact eBay they tell me I still have to wait for the supposed arrival date anyway, which will never be possible since he already gave me 2 fake tracking numbers 😞
